Please suggest vacation ideas
Me and DH are not travelers at all. Niether one of us have been to may places. We wen the Jamaica for our honeymoon and thats really the only vacation we have been on.
For my 30th bday which is August 30th i want to go away the problem is we have no idea where to go and what to do.
We are not lay on the beach type of people at all but at the same time i am willing to go to a beach type of resort if there are other things to do.
So please suggest I guess everything and anything. I been to Jamica, Florida, Vegas, California (hollywood area), and Bahamas; so i woud like to go somewhere I have ever been. Suggestions can be in the US and out.
As for Budget i dont know what is reasonable but i would like if possible to spend $3000 or less on minmally hotel flights, and rental car if nessccary (it would be great if the whole trip only cost $3000 but i dont know if thats even realistic)
Also if anyone has recommedations on how to plan a trip that would be great cause im clueless on this too
ETA: Since Argyle808 suggested a cruise (thank you btw i do appreciate it either way) I just want to say I am not really feeling the idea of a cruise.

Summer is hurricane season so you may want o avoid the Caribbean. How about costa rica? I know there are lots of excursions you can do there.

Re: Please suggest vacation ideas
I would suggest a few days in San Francisco and then a couple of days in Napa.
We did that as part of our honeymoon because like you, we were on a budget and aren't really 'lay on the beach'-type people.
There's lots to do in San Francisco. I suggest picking up Lonely Planet's San Francisco guide. Fisherman's Wharf, take in a baseball game, check out museums, go to Alcatraz.
As for Napa, we stayed here: Blackbird Inn which was amazing. I was a little hesitant to book a B&B, but they're very inviting and welcoming, yet hands-off there. They had a great table of info - maps of the area, promotions from wineries, recommendations for restaurants.

Aruba, while it is a lay on the beach place there is a lot of other stuff to do. Also, Aruba does not get hit by hurricanes.

DH and I are doing San Fran/Napa this summer for 10 days within your budget. It seems as though there is so much to do there; I'm really excited! FM me if you'd like details regarding our trip.
Also, I know you said you've been to Hollywood, but did you spend anytime in San Diego? That was a great trip as well.
New England is beautiful in the summer, or what about Canada? Those NE/Canadian cruises always look like an affordable way to see a bunch of different places at once.

I know you said you're not into it but have you ever done a cruise? With a $3k budget you can do a nice one with a great room! We just got off one so it's fresh in my mind, we had the best time.

The ladies that did California, has anyone ever included southern California in your trip to LA? I had thoughts of doing this...

Re: Please suggest vacation ideas
I might be a bad person to ask, but where I really want to go for my 30th is Disneyland. The Grand Californian is SOOO beautiful. They have an amazing spa, and a private entrance to California adventure. And then you can travel from there to LA, San Diego, etc.
I'd settle for Disney World, too.
I like the Napa idea, too. Maybe a North/South trip with a few relaxing days in napa and then some excitement at Disneyland/LA/SD.
I'm currently obssessed with Disneyland. in case you couldn't tell

We have! We spent most of our time in San Diego, but also went to LA to check out Venice Beach, Rodeo Drive, etc.
