Please Take This Poll - We need advice

We are are thinking about going camping with our friends who have a six month old baby. Is it appropriate to bring the baby camping? How would you feel about that?

I grew up camping all my life. I was taken camping as an infant and I brought my children camping as infants. I have such find memories of those times.

ETA: And the Dingo never ate my baby!

I have a 6 month old and I wouldn't take her camping, my own choice.

It wouldn't stop me from going camping with someone else's kid (if I didn't have mine I mean )

I have known plenty of people who have taken babies camping.

As the mom of an 8 month old..I'd have to say I'd pass on that trip. Traveling anywhere can be difficult with a 6 month old but throw camping into it, and I think it'd be tough..I don't know....if the baby is cranky, up throughout the night, etc..it just might not be enjoyable for you guys. Just my thoughts!

when we lived in Israel we used to go camping all the time at Lake Kineret. my parents have pics of me and my 2 sisters plating in a playpen at the campsite. that is also when I first learned swim. so I say yes.

Depends. Cabin or tent?

I would bring my DS to either. But, if it was a cabin, we would stay longer. I would only do a tent for a weekend or something.

We are allowing you guys to make the decision for us. There is a debate going on between DH and BF and they've agreed that when we get to 50 votes whoever is ahead wins.

If you're hiking everywhere and tenting it...no, I think it's a little much to bring a baby. If you have a cabin or RV and just kinda sitting out in the woods...sure. I don't see why not if that's the case.

I have an 11 month old and would never take him camping now so def not a 6 month old.

I wouldn't not go on a trip with my friends just because they wanted to take their baby along. In fact, my mom friends would all be very hurt by that reasoning.

I grew up with an outdoorsy family, so my cousins, aunts, etc would all bring their babies. They each got passed around, fed, rocked, etc and they'd pass out. I don't mind it and I welcome it.

i personally wouldn't take my six month old baby camping with me, but I wouldn't NOT go camping because someone ELSE was bringing their baby with them.

I would.

It's probably a better trip for kids because you're hanging out at a campsite. It's not like you can't go out & hit clubs because the baby is sleeping.

why wouldn't it? if they're just going to a campsite near a lake or something, I don't think it's a big deal. now if they were going to be doing lots of activities like boating or hiking, then no.

this is a really tough question.

on the one hand - they now have a kid and that's part of who they are now as a family. i can see why maybe they'd want to bring the child. on the flip side - having a kid there will change the dynamic and i think it's fair for you to decide whether it's one you want to deal with during your getaway.

i see both sides. i see why the ones with the baby might want to have their child there. but, i think it's fair for ppl w/o kids to want time for adult getaways and social gatherings.

ETA - reading these posts i'm not sure if i answered what you were really asking... if it was purely is there a prob taking a 6 month old camping, i'd say no. they know their kid and if they think the kid will do okay in that surrounding, it's no prob. i think you guys need to decide if you are fine camping with a 6 mo old though - which is a separate question!

I would - my friends do this all the time - I don't see anything wrong with it.
