I wouldn't say it's inappropriate, but I just wouldn't want to do it. You get dirty camping, and I just wouldn't want to deal with a 6-month old in that. But that's MO.

Are they camping type people? We are friends with a couple who are very camping saavy (sorry dont know a better way to put it, they are outdoorsy types and very sufficient outdoors) and I think they would be just fine taking a baby camping.
I also think it depends on how the baby is normally. If the baby is the type to adapt well I dont see a problem at all.

Are you staying in a tent, cabin or RV??
Whenever we go camping we always rent a cabin- (I guess its not really camping- huh? ) I would ABSOLUTELY take my 6 month old on that trip-
However if we were staying in a tent- then prob NOT- how would I keep his/her food cold or who would I warm a bottle???
To be brutally honest- if you choose not to go away with us- JUST because my DC was coming along- I dont think I would want you as my friend!

Personaly, no I would not take my 6 month old baby camping. But then again, I wouldn't go camping so you're probably getting a biased answer from me.

We took Kiera camping when she was 10 months old. I felt that it was actually harder at that age than if we had taken her a couple of months earlier. So my answer is, yes I would take a 6 month old camping.
But I would suggest bringing an air matress to sleep on for the baby. The ground might be a little too cold. And bring lots of bug spray.

I would love to take my baby camping, or to a music festival!! I think my sisters friend has taken her two little ones camping and had a really great time!
I don't think there is anything wrong with it. There are a whole heck of a lot of people who can't afford a fancy holiday in a hotel, so camping is just about the only thing they can do!!
