Please talk to your kids again about strangers

There's been a white van in our town approaching middle school & high school kids. Last night it was seen at the elementary school in my neighborhood as a daisy & brownie troop was getting out.

I was in my DS's Kindergarten class today for a holiday project and the teacher was talking to the kids about strangers. She asked what would they do if someone stopped a car and asked them to help them look for their lost dog. I was stunned when EVERY kid said they'd help. She talked to them about not doing that and running away while yelling "You're a stranger!"

I still can't believe that my DS said he'd help look for a dog, especially since I'd talked to my kids about strangers last night after we got the call from our superintendent. But at 5 I guess they just think about how sad they'd be if they lost their dog. It really scared me.

I'll be talking to my kids again about not talking to strangers, not approaching cars even if the person seems upset, is talking low, etc.

There was a white van situation in our district about a month ago. I wonder if it's the same person. Work van with tinted windows, and the man has a gray beard?

I'm not sure about the beard, but it's a white work truck that drives slowly around following kids home from school and trying to get them to talk to him. Very scary.

It sounds like this guy is making his way around the island then. Hopefully someone gets his license plate number.

I'm assuming your talking about HHH? My bus stop was the stop where my neighbor was approached. I CAN NOT BELIEVE she was talking to him as he got out of the van and the only reason he left was because he saw the bus coming. HE COULD HAVE JUST GRABBED HER! She gave a pretty good description down to his sneakers. The white van with purple graphetti has been seen in the area but no license plate could be caught.

Let me tell you the kids on my block are joking about it (including that girl) and making it like a CSI TV show. They are not scared at all. I am scared shetless that this person has targeted this girl NOT only ONCE but TWICE the second time being in MY DRIVEWAY!

No, we're in Wantagh. It's scary that this guy or a couple similar guys are cruising around so much lately. And scary that the older kids think it's funny.
