Please tell me I will sleep again one day
DC are 11 weeks and still waking every three hours to eat all night long. Last night was 8pm, 11:30, 2, 4:45 and 7:15 and they have been up since 6. I know we all go through this and its normal but there has been no real improvement or lengthening of time between feedings since they were born. Some nights its even worse like last night when they will only go 2.5 hours, I guess growth spurts.
I think I just need some encouragement and hugs . I go back to work in less than three weeks and I don't know how I'm going to do this.

Yes! You will sleep again. Mason was exactly like this. There was no stretch of sleep. Every threee hours. He was clockwork... it was nuts! Around 3 - 4 months he stretched to every 4 - 5 hours and now at 8 months he sleeps 12 hours! Never thought he'd do that b/c he was clockwork. He's been sleeping 12 hours for about 3 months and I'm loving it!

Re: Please tell me I will sleep again one day
I got NO sleep for 9 months, BUT it was my fault because I was running in when I heard someone up and nursing them on demand whenever they made a peep. I stopped one night and then they slept 12 hours from then on.....hopefully when they get bigger they will start sleeping longer because the exhaustion is a killer

I dont have any advice but wanted to give you a ton of . Im sure the lack of sleep is very difficult. Did you mention this to your ped? Did she/he have any words of advice?
Good luck! I really hope it gets easier for you soon

We saw the ped on Monday and I mentioned it to him. We are doing everything right - putting them down awake in the bassinet, etc. They go right to sleep when we put them down and the actual sleeping is not the problem. Hunger is the problem - the little one will take 6+ ounces at every feeding even in the middle of the night. They are still really small for their age (10 and 11 lbs even) so I think as they get bigger they will be able to go longer.
It is just so hard right now and I don't know how I'm going to function at work.

Re: Please tell me I will sleep again one day
Colin is giving me 2-3 hrs this week and he's 15 wks
But I can tell you Ryan did the same and by 6 months was STTN. I know it seems like an eternity away, but once they do STTN, after a few days, it will feel like they have always been. You'll feel amazing after a few full nights.
Hang in there - I know how draining it is. I have Colin up so much and Ryan's toddler tantrums by day, and back to work in a couple of wks - somehow we manage.
Do you commute to Manhattan any chance? I plan to try and nap on the train in and out once I'm back - I'll probably end up in the wrong town a few times, but hey

Re: Please tell me I will sleep again one day
Hang in there...I felt that way too....and then one day, boom , they both slept 7 hours , then 8....and hardly ever wake up anymore middle of the night... And Sydney sleeps 12 hours at night...and that was only maybe 2 weeks after waking every 3 hours.
The time will come

Re: Please tell me I will sleep again one day
My twins were waking up a lot too....and then something switched and they started sleeping well. I also spent 2 night soothing them with the pacifier and not giving bottles at every waking and it helped. Once they slept at night they started drinking 7-8 ounces every 4 hours during the day.
hang in there

Re: Please tell me I will sleep again one day
Oh Carolyn, I've been there. I honestly thought I was never going to sleep more than 3 hours at a time ever again for the first 6 months. At 6 months it started to get a little better. Now, it is still not perfect, but for the most part, Mady will sleep through the night, and Jonah will wake up once or twice. It will get better, I promise. Does your DH help at all with the night feedings? When it was like that here, I would go to sleep early - like 8:00, and shut the monitor off, and DH would stay up with them through 1am. This way I could get 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

That was DS. He didnt start sleeping better until I started putting 1 tsp. cereal in his bottle and started solids at 4 mo. And even now he still wakes up 2x's a night.

Re: Please tell me I will sleep again one day
They just started giving us 4+ hours last week.Last night they slept from 9P-about 6:45A. It gets better I promise. When I went back to work it was not easy. The first few days I thought I was going to fall asleep driving home. Just when I started accepting the exhaustion and lack of sleep they magically started sleeping more!

Re: Please tell me I will sleep again one day
Like Jenna-I also ran in every time my kids cried an dfed them. Now if your kids are older than 5 months or so(adjusted age if they were early) I think you can stop feeding. Also-at 6 are you trying to feed them and then put them back to sleep? I may get flamed for this but I used to give my kids their bottles right in their crib leaned on a boppy and propped up. No light, no talking just feed and back to sleep(once they didn't need to be burped anymore)
