Please tell me I'm being ridiculous...
Ava and I were just at the park around the corner from our house. As soon as I walked into the park, a kid who was MAYBE 16, probably more like 15 came up to me and said, "Excuse me? Do you have a cell phone I can use?" I did a quick assessment of him, saw the braces and realized he was just a kid. He told me he was meeting "some guy" and wanted to just give him a call so he knew where he was. So he calls and tells the person, "Yeah, I'm here, I have my bike and a black bag," as if to tell the person what to look for when coming in, kind of like they never met. Ok, fine. So I go about my business, take Ava to the park and what not. About a half hour later, we're leaving, and I see the kid that used my phone without his shirt on with some much older man taking pictures of him The MUCH older man was making him pose with his shirt off and I was really very upset by this. I am really upset about this. I didn't say anything because I had Ava with me, but I honestly had a really bad gut feeling about the whole thing. All of it added up to be like one of those online situations where some perv says, "I'm legit, I'll even meet you in the park," kind of things. I don't know. Can anyone shed some light? I just walked in. Should I call the police? Should I just do nothing?

Re: Please tell me I'm being ridiculous...
I think I'd alert the cops - and you now have this potential perve's cell number, so you can be very helpful if this kid is in a dangerous situation. Sounds sketchy
ETS: Or maybe you were just on one of those shows that test what you would do in certain situations

I would call the police and give the number from your phone. Something is VERY fishy with that whole thing.

Re: Please tell me I'm being ridiculous...
I'd write down the number from the log in my cell and call the cops. I'd rather they knew about it since it does sound a little weird to me. Better that they hassle a legit person then ignore a bad situation.

Ok, I'm just going to call the police. I mean, if it was legit, I'd think his parents would be there.

I'd call the police. If that boy was your child what would you want the person in your position to do?

Re: Please tell me I'm being ridiculous...
Definitely seems odd to me. But who knows what that could be. IMO it is not likely that a pedafile would go to the nearby park and engage in said activities. But ya never know.

Re: Please tell me I'm being ridiculous...
Ok, I called and they were not very interested, just said they'd send someone down there to see what was going on. I guess what can they do? All these different scenarios were going through my head and of course a pedophile would go to a park because the next time he met with this kid, he'd say, "Come to my house this time, you already met me, you can trust me." I know it might be a leap, but I couldn't take the chance. I feel better that I called and I'll save the number incase I see anything in the paper or on the news or whatever. It was just totally creepy.

Ugh. That's an annoying response. Shortly after 9/11 I called the police once to report that on my way to work I'd seen someone hanging out on the side of the parkway a few days in a row at the same time in the same place staring at a plane that was flying over and it really freaked me out. They actually said "What do you want me to do about it?" Ummm, send a patrol car by tomorrow to see what is going on?
