please tell me this is a phase....
for about maybe two wks kaylie has been waking up sporadically throughout the night not screaming not crying but "loud talking" mostly sounds like "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" and occassional whines....im trying to figure out what the heck the reason is for this ....the only two i could come up with is the white noise machine turns off after about five hrs and the loud talking/whining usually occurs about an hr or two after and we stopped swaddling but that was maybe a month ago..i go in there and give her the paci &/or turn the white noise back on and she goes back to sleep but wakes up soon after the paci falls out of her mouth &/or the machine stops.please tell me this is a phase im getting sporadic sleep & its killing me

Re: please tell me this is a phase....
It may be a phase if she's had new milestones as it causes sleep disruption.
If it were me, I'd take it as a sign to try to wean her from the pacifier and later on, the white noise machine. Speaking for experience, once they've grown dependent on something that causes the sleep disruption, it's time. Delaying it only makes it that much harder & a longer process.

Re: please tell me this is a phase....
One more thing I thought about on the train, could she be practicing talking? As I said any milestone (including talking) can cause waking.
Both of my kids used to do that at night. It went from sounds to words rather quickly. We used to hear "Tah...tah..tah" and then it went to "Kat. Aunt Kat. Aunt Kat. Aunt. Kat. Kat. Kat"

see this is what i thought it might be since its such a repetitive sound ah ah ah.....but i also thought it might be teething bc the hand is constantly in her mouth and occassionally through the "talking" she would whine/cry and the back to talking so i dont know im at a loss bc im so tired

Athan did that a lot. He would moan, whine, groan say little things all in his sleep. He did out grow it but he still sighs a lot when sleeping My guess is she will outgrow it and its a phase but I am not sure what to tell you about the paci or noise machine - if thats attributing to it or not.

Re: please tell me this is a phase....
Nick was doing this also. It would happen every night around 2 or 3AM. He had also started teething/grabbing his toes sticking them in his mouth - at the same time.
He's stopped the 2AM babble party, and is now on to 430AM 2 second wail.
