pls. give me your opinion on this....allergy question

ok, here's the scoop DD has had runny nose, cough, etc, for 2 weeks, I though it was left over croup symptoms, she then ran a fever, I took her to Dr. it was an ear infection, she is on antibiotics for 5 days now.

Last night I gave her for the first time, gerber cereal bar - it was strawberry banana.

She now has a rash all over her back, bumpy red, could it be:

1. Reaction to the Strawberry.

2. Reaction to the antibiotics

3. Or could EVERYTHING, even ear infection be related to milk allergy, she has been on whole milk for 3 weeks now and in my "baby ref. book" symptoms are cold like, ear infection and could develop rash ???

never ending !!

UPDATE: went to the Dr. and yes, she had an allergic reaction to the amoxicylin - I am glad it wasn't a food reaction or milk. they stopped the medication and did not give a new one 'cause the ear infection healed.

This could also be a viral rash, Noah has often gotten one, which sounds just like what you describe at the end of a cold, sickness, virus etc.

I would take her to your doctor asap just to make sure.

Arent strawberrys one of the fruits most kids have an allergy too. Not saying that is what it is. Call your Peds and see what they say. You dont want it to get worse if you give the item that caused it again.

My vote would be for the strawberry bar. Has she ever taken this particular antibiotic before? If so and she didnt have a reaction, than it's not that. She could also be developing another virus.

it maybe be the anitbotic. my dd used to take penicillan all the time for ear infections until one time she broke out from head to toe in horrible hives from it. her doctor said you can become allergic to an antibotic at anytime, even if the child has had it before. my dd can longer take penicillan. i would give your doc a call and she what he/she says.
