pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
my IUI is tomorrow, but I STILL do not know the time. I am on a waiting list and the time will be finalized today after 5 pm Both me and my DH need to take time off tomorrow, but we do not know when. With the timing being finalized after 5 pm, I might just call in sick tomorrow all together.
I am upset that I am on a hook and do not know the timing, It is frustrating. anyone else had similar experience? or is this normal?

Re: pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
That is just silly. I am sorry you have that unnecessary added stress to this process. I hate when things like that happen, having all of this out of our control is just so frustrating. Hang in there! And good luck!

Why on earth would it take them that long to set a time? I've never heard or have experienced anything like that before....

Re: pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
ive never heard of that either, but i feel for you. Its stressful enough going through all this you dont need any added stress. I feel sometimes the Dr's offices have the attitude well this is what it is everyone else does it (when it comes to work schedules etc).

Re: pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
Waiting list?! I never heard of that!!! Where I go you just make the appointment!
Also, keep in mind that the sample needs to be left there an hour before the IUI for sperm washing- so whether your DH will be donating there or you are bringing it from home, you will need about an hour in between!
ETA: Oh, and to answer your question, I would be livid over this

Re: pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
I believe we go to the same clinic...and that is their policy. However, when I had my IUI last month the IUI nurse made it pretty clear that the IUI would be done as close to 36 hours as possible with my DH coming in a 1/2 hour earlier. They say they do this because they are cycling IVF patients and they do their schedules first.
I was there today...same policy...for my next follow-up I am also on the waiting list...they do call the afternoon before and are very flexible with the times...I've never had a problem. You have to tell them your preferred time and they will try to accomodate you.

Re: pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
I would be annoyed and worried. It's a good while since I did IUIs but the trigger is timed so that your IUI is scheduled 36 hours after. How can they not schedule your insemination when they tell you when to trigger?

Re: pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
OMG That really sucks. I never really thought about it because I didn't even know until 6pm the evening before when the dr called with bloodwork results she did not expect that I (my body) was going to be ready to go the next day. They had to have a pharmacy in Brooklyn deliver the trigger meds to me that evening (11pm) and the nurse scheduled me on the spot for the following afternoon. So, the whole thing got scheduled in a sort of rushed fashion anyway. But, I had been expecting to go in a couple of days, not the very next day. I am disappointed to hear about the WL though. That doesn't make much sense to me. What happens if you don't make it to the top of the list? You miss that cycle? That's insane. I have been worried that my next IUI is going to need to be scheduled right around Thanksgiving. I can't imagine how well they are going to manage that conundrum! I am sorry that you are going through this. Hopefully, this will just be one day in the lifetime of a DC that you won't even remember (nor will your boss)!

Re: pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
RedRoses, let's discuss over FM. But with the meds, exactly the same thing happened to me last cycle. Meds delivery at 11.30pm, rushed trigger, etc. however, i can tell you that this cycle it is different. actually, once I got AF and came for CD3 work up, they automatically ordered meds again and I got surprise delivery on the evening of CD3 and had to keep drugs in the fridge for 10+days. this place is getting me

Re: pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
oh, and I do not think you miss the cycle. NO WAYYYYYYYY! it is their issue, not mine. Trust me, if they did not see me on the day I was O'ing for IUI, I would be in prison already for destroying that place all together.

Re: pls tell me i am wrong to be upset
Are they giving you a trigger shot ??
That generally has to be timed somewhat accordingly

That's not so unusual I have loads of drugs in my fridge, I ordered for a few cycles in advance even just because of how my insurance works. I've had everything in my fridge for a month now.

This is what I was trying to say...the IUI would be timed properly...mine was timed for 36 hours too even though they did not give the time until the afternoon before...they would not jeopardize the IUI timing. The nurse all but told me they would do it with 36 hours. As for the meds...they always order all of my meds way ahead of time so I have them in advance.
BTW...they will do the IUI even on the weekend if they have to...this was one of the questions I asked them before I did my IUi wuth them.

I agree with this.
Unfortunately, nothing about dealing with IF is controllable or predicable. Any given cycle, your body can or will react differently than the month before. Sometimes, you really just need to be ready at the drop of a hat.
With my IVF cycles, I never knew until the DAY of when my transfer would be. That was all dependant on how well the embies were doing. I would get a call between 9am-11am and would be expected to be at the office within 2 hours.
Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast.....
