Looks like they need to rewrite all the science textbooks now...
Yep, and this is my job- we are in the middle of producing a new national science series, so we are in a bit of a dimemma!!

My DH works for a media design company that works with many of the big textbook publishers (Harcourt, McGraw Hill, etc.) on producing the textbooks. I have a feeling they are going to have some big jobs coming up!

um, if it is not its own planet & a moon of another planet, why did they not discover a lunar orbit earlier?

I guess that is one less wire hanger and styrofoam ball at next year's science fair!
Oh, the poor styrofoam ball manufacturers... Didn't the astronomers think of them and the ramifications on sales?

Its not a moon of another planet. Pluto, along with other bodies in the solar sytem are now going to be called Dwarf Planets.

Looks like they need to rewrite all the science textbooks now...
And in the future kids will never use, "My very educated mother just served us nine pickles!"
What will she serve now? Nuts? Nothing?
How about noodles? I theach third grade and that little sentence realy does help the students remember the order of the planets. It will be interesting to learn more about this and teach it this year!

Ooh, noodles is a good one. Really, I'm surprised this isn't the main topic of discussion in the media!
