Pocono Resorts...with poll

Friends of ours are relentless and want us to go with them to one of these couples only resorts in the Pocono's..places like the "Beautiful Mount Airy Lodge". You know, the ones with the champagne shaped hot tub...

Well, I dont want to go (plus its about $1000 for the weekend). I always thought they were so cheesy. What do you guys think? I really dont want to go.

DH & I went to Pocono Palace years ago and I had the best time. Yes, it's cheesy but I think that's part of the fun.

But in all seriosness, there are a lot of things to do right on the property (paddleboats, pools, hot tubs, game rooms, shuffleboard, dancing, bar/lounge, nature walks, mini golf, etc.)

The food was not bad and you could get room service for breakfast.

All of this is included in the price (not alcohol though).

There are some rooms that are not all tricked up that are fairly reasonable.

Actually we have been to cove haven 3 times. The first time we went was our mini honeymoon. I didnt enjoy it as much as the other two times. The rooms are kind of cheesy but in a fun way. The video games are kind of outdated but for some reason, it really is fun, especially if you go with other people I assume. They have tons of group activities and they give you an itinerary of whats going on where and what time. We didnt really get involved in all of that but we did have an amazing time nevertheless.

I think the food is really good...especially the breakfast buffet. I know cove haven has raquetball, tennis, ice skating, roller rink, pool tables, archery, basketball, night club, gym, pool inside and out among other things. I find it a bit pricey but we truly did enjoy it. The only thing, bring your own liquor for the room and your own firewood from here if you have a room with a fireplace in the winter...their prices are insane for that stuff! Have fun!

We go to Cove Haven every year, sometimes twice a year. If you expect it to be the Sandals resorts type thing, you will be disappointed, cuz that's not what it's about. If you are just looking to spend some time with SO & maybe some friends & have some cheesy, but waaaaay funny times, then this is definitely the place to go. We love it. I would very much recommend Cove Haven.

DH and I went for our 6 month dating anniversary (3 years ago) to one of them. It's SOOOOOOOOOOO cheesy - but so fun! I wouldn't have wanted to spend more than a long weekend but if you let yourself go with it, you'll have a great time. We had the coolest room (no champagne glass or anything). We had a plunge pool and a sauna in our room!! Chat Icon

It really is just what you're thinking of but it's fun, I swear Chat Icon

ETS: Thanks MsMBV - it was Cove Haven that we went to! I couldn't remember the name.

I don't think its lame, but there are other options for that amount of $. Fh and I are going on a short Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas (4 days), and with airfare to Miami, it came in at about $1100.

We've never been, but we have friends that go to Cove Haven as well... they always come back telling us it was the best time ever.

But I do have to say those commercials from when we were younger DO stick in my mind, and would taint my view of the place as well! Chat Icon

Re: Pocono Resorts...with poll

Actualy it is Cove Haven that they want us to go to!

OK, so maybe we will go. I know DH wants to go...so I'll leave it up to him.

It is a lot of money though - for the weekend plus gas and tolls and buying your own lunch we're looking at about $1000! I would rather go on a cruise but can't afford to take the time off from work.

Thanks girls for your input!!!!

Its is major cheese but soooooooooooo much fun! We went to Pocono Palace and we seriously had the best time!!!!

The only thing is its kinda expensive IMO - I just think for that much $, you can do something even better like go on a short cruise, go to FL, etc.

Re: Pocono Resorts...with poll

My BIL has a condo there and it's very nice and relaxing and fun. We don't have the champagne glass, but a regular Jacuzzi and sauna, etc.

DH and I go all the time just to get away for a long weekend.
