You do the crime, you do the time. Spitting is a legitimate assault. They are getting what they deserve. Though they probably deserve more IMO.
Number one: spitting is flat out disgusting and one of the most primitive behaviors to be seen. I expect behavior like this from babies who do not know any better or degenerates.
Number 2: Spitting puts people a risk for health issues. We just had OSHA training again at work today. I walk around my school with Clorox wipes, rubber gloves, Purell and anti-bacterial soap. I do not have OCD. But I have the right to protect myself against anything that these students may be carrying. I am required to have a TB test every year and I was required to get a Hepatitis vaccination series. If I wasn't at risk, I wouldn't need these shots. And yes, I have been spit on and children have attempted to bite me in the course of my teaching career.
