Why is it rude to play music, use a mower or to let your kids play outside during the day on a weekend?
I would definitely buy the home if I loved it!
I was thinking the same thing. My kids are always outside playing and I love to listen to music too. I don't mow my lawn but my landscaper does on Fridays. Does that make me rude too? lol
From the post, I took it to mean other than the 'normal' type of stuff...
For me personally, I don't think it's RUDE, I think it is 'the norm' to hear noises and 'life' going on. For ME I would not move to an area where there is a lot of activity. I like it really quiet, that doesn't make you rude, it means I’m weird You’d have to come to my house to believe how quiet it is. Everyone who visits me always comments on it.
Kitty, that's what I meant... above average noise level compared to the rest of the area/houses.

Yes, I meant above average noise level compared to the rest of the area/houses.
Excessive as in a mower/blower/edger for hours and hours on a small patch of grass. Music that's loud for a long time, not just low.
ah, okay. if it's like that non-stop, then NO, I would not be able to live there. If it's bothering you now, I can only imagine what it'll really be like once you do move in, you know?

Re: Poll - Would you buy a home that had a neighbor...
Probably not. My parents live next to two neighbors that are bad for different reasons. One neighbor has children who yell bloodcurdling screams at all hours of the day in the summer from 7am-9pm, and the other is really nasty and rude. So far, my neighbors all seem nice and quiet, but there is a house for sale across the street, so we'll see what happens...

yes, especially since it is likely that one of you won't live there forever.

I would buy it, a neighbor using a mower/blower and noisy kids to me are not something out of the ordinary just people going about their business I guess.
Ditto.
There's nothing you can do about who moves in and out next door. You could have quiet as a mouse neighbor move out only to have some one obnoxious move in.

Re: Poll - Would you buy a home that had a neighbor...
I think if I really loved the house, ad all I had to sacrifice was good next door neighbors, I would buy it. there are much worse ones out there, they could possibly move, and if the house is exactly what I wanted, then why put yourself through finding an okay house and great neighbors cause they could move and a crazy person could move in

Re: Poll - Would you buy a home that had a neighbor...
I would probably pass if it bothered me enough to notice it to begin with. Once you live there, you can do whatever you want to your house and property and make it your dream home but you still you can't change your neighbors. I have a neighbor that I wish I knew more about before moving in. I would move if I could and it's sad bc we did a lot of work to our house and things are really nice - except we still have this neighbor.

Re: Poll - Would you buy a home that had a neighbor...
I guess I would be a little concerned, but if I was that concerned, I would put a bid in and if it got accepted, I would go to the neighbors houses to see what they are like before I signed the contract. First impressions aren't always the right ones. They may have been having a bad day. Good Luck though.

Re: Poll - Would you buy a home that had a neighbor...
I would go back a see the house again and hang out for a bit. Ask neighbors that are out or passing by about the activity level on the block.
Our neighborhood is very active with lots of young children (one family has 7 ). The house next door to us just sold to a young couple. The buyers saw us outside with our son and a few of his friends playing and asked what the block was like. I told them honestly if you dont like kids this may not be the block for you. They said they have one on the way and plan on more. I think they will fit right in.

Re: Poll - Would you buy a home that had a neighbor...
I voted no. However, we currently have neighbors behind us that leave their dogs out barking. We have no problem going over to them and letting them know. They are always apologetic. This just happened recently. If you aren't people that will tell the neighbors to hush up, then i wouldn't buy the house. if you are okay with the confrontation, buy, buy, buy!

Re: Poll - Would you buy a home that had a neighbor...
I voted "no". We deal with 1 set of neighbors who are constantly having LOUD parties in their garage in the front of their house which is right next to our bedroom!
In the beginning, we were friends with them, but it just became too much. We felt like we couldn't even BBQ in our backyard without inviting them over.
If we were to move, they would be one of the primary reasons for our doing so.

Re: Poll - Would you buy a home that had a neighbor...
It def is a tough decision. I think in the end I would take the house if i loved it. Maybe I would try to become friends with the neighbor so that if i need a day of them not playing music , etc, I would feel comfortable asking them??
