POLL: Covering Up Tattoos...
I'm starting my second year in the school district where I work, but it will be the first year at this particular middle school. I want to give off a good first impression, and keep my tattoo hidden for as long as possible.
Do you know of any coverups that would be good for covering up tattoos? If you were in my position (untenured teacher, second year in the district, first year in the middle school), would you do cover it up or leave it alone? The tat I want to cover is on my ankle, and I'd need something that does not drip or wear off easily.
Don't forget to answer my poll above, k?

With the way school politics work, I would absolutely cover it up. But as soon as you get tenured, you better let that tat hang out for all to see!

Re: POLL: Covering Up Tattoos...
I definitely would cover it. As for what to use, I really don't know. Would a bandaid work? If not, I would try a sweatproof concealer.

After reading that your tattoo was on your ankle, I voted no.

Re: POLL: Covering Up Tattoos...
Is it a very large tat? I do understand your wanting to cover it in a new work environment because I felt that way originally. I have a small tat on my ankle and when i first started teaching I wore long pants and skirts everyday to try to cover it up. It got so annoying in the summer I got fed up and just let it show. It was no big deal to the kids at all, I think like 2 kids mentioned it quickly and that was it. It is so much more acceptable now. It has never been an issue. Another teacher I know wore a bandaid every day to cover it, the kids asked more about the bandaid than the tat! You may want to keep it covered for a while until you're more comfortable there. Either way, good luck.

It's a small tattoo (one inch in height, two inches in length) of three small daisies. I can just hear my mom's voice right now "you're going to regrrrret it". I'll probably wear pants until I can find a good concealor.

Extra large band aid would work!
