The only person I speak to on the phone on a regular basis is my mom.

Email is mostly how I communication with my different groups of friends. I actually don't "socialize" with many of them on any regular basis.

I see one of my HS BF's about every six months and another I meet for lunch maybe every two or three months. I probably email with them monthly.

Another group I email with daily but again, we don't really see eachother.

I have definitely drifted away from a lot of my friends b/c we are so caught up in - Life! So, I am guilty of the not calling thing.

BUT, I know my real friends are the ones you can pick up the phone to talk to after a few weeks and it will be like we were talking every day.

I can relate oh too well.

It seems like one friend has a requirement of dinner once a week to maintain friendship..never calls to see how things are going. Just expects me to always be available for dinner. Well, she doesn't own her own home, has a live in boyfriend (they live at her dads house) and doesn't really know what it's like to have the responsibilities of a newly married couple.

Then as far as my "other" friends are concerned, it always seems as though if I don't pick up the phone and make the effort I'll never hear from them. Most of them aren't even involved in a relationship let alone married.

And it's really unfair for it to fall on me.

E-mail all the time, see friends in person once every few weeks / months....not enough!

It varies depending on the person. Sometimes its more. Some I can contact easily on email every day. Others its hard to get in touch with and I only speak to them once a month.

Hardly ever. I don't feel I have any 'real friends' anymore. I talk to a few via e-mail or occasionally on the phone, but nobody I really look forward to seeing or talking to. I hate this fact, but it's true.
I've had 'best friends' in my lifetime and I truly miss that.

Friends are a very important part of DH's and my life. While we don't speak to all of them weekly or even monthly, I would say even with kids we make an effort to go out and see everyone at least once a month.

Friendships change over time though...friends who are away or not in the same time in their lifes as I am, I don't speak to as often as say a friend who has kids....we just don't have a whole lot to talk about. But at the end of the day if god forbid something terrible should happen in my life i know each and every one of our friends now would be there for us.

It's nice to have a network of people. I can't begin to tell you how much we learn from our friends. Even basic things like jobs, people some people know, etc have happened for us because of the people we call friends.

It varies from friend to friend. I can go weeks without speaking to my best friend - she's got a lot of kids and works different hours than I do so sometimes it's just had to connect. Lately it's been nearly every day though.

Another one of my closest friends has an office job like I do so we email constantly but we rarely speak on the phone.

I used to get upset about it but now I realize that we all have busy lives and at the end of the day, none of us really wants to sit on the phone chatting. We all want to relax with our DHs. I still feel just as close with them as I always did though, because when we do reconnect, it's as if no time has passed.

it's mixed -- one friend i speak to a few times a week, some i speak to every few weeks.

one of my good friends though - and this REALLY annoys me - NEVER calls me, 70% of the time doesn't call me back, and 8 out of 10 times breaks plans with me. and this is supposed to be one of my best friends.

i'm embarrassed to say i'm not a phone person so i keep in touch mostly through emails. my good friends don't live close by so we only see each other a few times a year. i wish i could be better about these things but it does go both ways. i try not to get too upset about it though b/c i know we are all very busy.

I work with 4 of my bessie mates, so I see them most days. But my other friends, who are my Yummy Mummy friends, I see them once a week.

It's different....
I have one friend I talk to almost every day.
Most that I talk to once or twice a week.
And a couple that we could not call each other in a year and e-mail back and forth and suddenly get together.

WOW Im so glad you posted this Im having a real issue with Friendships latetly or the lack thereof. My so called friends say that I never make an effort to call. Its hard Im so busy we just moved and I work long hours and have 2 year old that I never get to see. I feel like Im losing alot of friends but I just dont have the motivation lately. None of my friends email so that is out although I wish they did- that would make likfe so much easier on me and I think Id have more communication. Lastely I ve been feeling like my life is in a different direction than most of my friends. They are still into partying to all hours in the morning and Im sooooooo over that. Somedays I think to myself do I even have friends anymore?? Its really a part of my life that hasnt been great lately.

I have 2 friend that I talk to all day long thru email while we are at work. When one of is busy...it cools down a bit, but everyone understands. Sometimes if there's something stressful going on for one of us, it keeps that person calm.

That doesn't really describe it....hope you understand.

my best friend since elementary school i feel like our friendship is very one sided- i hear from her maybe once a week in a short e-mail, and see her every few months... and its usually me who has to initiate any communication. she has a 3 month old son, so its understandable, but it was like this even before the baby.....
BUT, DH has a group of really good friends from HS that all live here in town, and we talk to most of them everyday, and see at least a couple of them every night at starbucks for coffee after dinner, not to mention theres usually something going on with them on the weekends, too.... so those are our really close friends- they are pretty much like family. its great!

Depends on the friend, I have a newer friend I talk at least every other day, older friends once a week or so, and everyone thru email.

I've found text messaging to be an amazing way for my friends and I to keep in touch. I "speak" to one of my friends every day via text and at least two others a couple of times a week. It is slightly more personal than email, but doesn't take the time to make a phone call. That sounds horrible, but we text for hours. It works for us.

I email my closest friend several times a day during the week while we are at work.
