Re: Poll-What is your lot size and are you satisfied with it?

We had 60x100 and now have 1 acre in my house.

It is so much of a difference... We have a very nice size back yard and then about 1/4 of an acre is all trees and greenery. We can eventually take those down and make a pool and fit a tennis court too... I don't see us doing that at all but we can.

1/2 acre. I think it is perfect. Big enough to have a lot of room for a pool, garden, ect. But not too big where we can't mow it.

I think it is a great size for my DD and 2 large dogs to run and play. It is not too large where it is hard to care for.

We're on 1/4 of an acre.

1/4 of an acre is 75x150 - not 100x100.

ETA: It's a great size property.

Us, too. However, we back up to a canal and preserve but it's a PITA trying to keep the vines and reed growth from encroaching into our backyard. Constant maintenance!

I agree. W ehave the same but our property is irregularly shaped, so I do wish it was deeper ours is long width wise which is fine.

I wouldnt do less than 1/3. We had .2 in our last house and it was just too small for us.

Re: Poll-What is your lot size and are you satisfied with it?

My plot is a shade more than a quarter acre - but it's irregular. My side yards are very small, my front yard is normal - and my backyard seems REALLY big. People are always commenting on how big our back yard is - but it's not that big on paper!

We're completely satisfied - we have plenty of room for the kids to play and for us to entertain. It's large enough that we have the ability to have decent landscaping (nice trees, bushes, etc..) - I can easily put in a pool - but we don't want one. AND it's not so big that maintenance is a pain in the butt. I'll see if I can dig up some pics.

we are on just over 100X100. Its big for our neighborhood but not big enough for us. Ideally I'd love several acres but its a tough find and $$$ on LI.

we use our little lot to the max, I have a large veggie garden, the chicken run which is pretty big, the green house, flower gardens, 2 sheds & the boat house, a fire pit, small pond, deck & patio with a decent sized grassy area. We regularly have BBQs with 20+ people & room to spare.
Our neighbors aren't an issue as far as privacy goes but I'd love to look out and see tress instead of houses.

Re: Poll-What is your lot size and are you satisfied with it?

we have a 60 x 175 lot. I wish it were a smidge wider, but our front AND backyard is huge. For western Nassau, its pretty large and I am happy with it.

What I love is that when we do eventually build out, we can go forward A LOT and not lose any backyard space.

We will eventually put a pool in and still have a sizable entertaining space.

Re: Poll-What is your lot size and are you satisfied with it?

We have a half acre and I wish we could have more - I grew up on 20 acres and I miss having the space around without neighbors so close. I hate looking out at the "stuff" in our neighbors' yards - boats, a school bus, camper, extra cars, stacks of fencing, multiple sheds, etc.

Re: Poll-What is your lot size and are you satisfied with it?

I have a 90x110 (big corner lot for my area) and while I could always love bigger this is big enough to maintain. I don't think we could have a bigger yard. 1 month ago I had to call the landscapers back. I did it on my own last year and until 1 month ago this year. But DS no longer takes naps. And it really is too big to maintain on my own. I do ALL the outside yardwork. I do like the size we have though. It's good for parties.

My property size is 60x100 which is quite expansive for Queens. I've lived in Queens all my life and grew up on a 30x100 plot with a shared driveway, so this is like living in the countryside! Chat Icon

I am very happy with the property size itself; it's the layout I don't love. You may think I'm crazy, but I have a two-car garage and wish it was only a one-car...we don't even put our cars in it anyhow, so it's taking up space I might like for my yard. Also, a good portion of the yard is on the sides and I'd probably prefer it in the back...but what can you do?

Honestly, I wouldn't need or want any bigger. The kids have plenty of space to run, the driveway area is great for bikes, scooters, chalk. I don't want a pool and don't plan on purchasing a horse and riding it through my yard Chat Icon, so this is perfect!

We are at 0.28 acre, so I voted 1/3 acre.

We are in a wooded area, so we have a lot of area in our yard that is wooded (not usable land area). We love our area and the kids school, so we will likely stay put in the same town, but do consider moving to a bigger house/bigger property. Most houses here have 1/2 acre or more.

I'm happy with it. We have a patio area and large swing set yet there is still plenty of space.

70 x 100 - I like it. Our yard is big enough but not overwhelming to take care of (or too expensive). I wouldn't mind a little bigger but I am totally satisfied.

1 acre (approx 125' x 350') and it's too small for our liking.

We have about a 1/2 acre in the front and 1/2 in the back. I think our backyard is too small for a pool, as I don't want it to eat into our yard. (Most of our neighbors have smaller front yards with larger backyards, so they still have substantially more room for a pool.)

However, I do think it's prefect from a neighborhood standpoint. Our area is mostly acre plots, so we have some privacy, but yet you can still get to know your neighbors.

Re: Poll-What is your lot size and are you satisfied with it?

We're on just over 1/3 of an acre - .38 - and I think it's a great size. Our backyard is lined in 20' Hemlocks so we have incredible privacy year round. The Hemlocks actually sold us in the property...I think if they were missing I would feel like I wanted at least 1/2 an acre.

We're on 1/4 of an acre.

1/4 of an acre is 75x150 - not 100x100.

ETA: It's a great size property.

75x150 is the same overall measurement as 100x100 = .25 acre. The lots will just look different...

Re: Poll-What is your lot size and are you satisfied with it?

We have 1/3 of an acre and it is perfect.

Big enough for us to have a patio area and play area, a shed, a pool if we ever want to put one in and still have open space.

It's not too big, though DH still has trouble maintaining it-he is new to yard workChat Icon Chat Icon

I like being not on top of my neighbors but near enough to them so that I don't feel isolated.

I could never live on several acres. 1-I would feel vulnerable to creepers, burglars, the quiet would make me jump at every noise even more so than I already do.

Also, we have a friend who has a good amount of acreage. He keep the stuff around the house maintain like a yard and the other stuff as trails, etc. I cannot tell you how many snakes he has around his houseChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

No, I like a neighbor that keeps wildlife at bay-those things freak me out! We have little bunnies that are around our yard from time to time and that is enough for me.
