I EBF but do not BF in public. No controversy here, just curious....

I did and I will. I'm not saying it was often but when I needed to , it did it.

No, I was so uncomfortable. I'm all for others doing it and wished I was more comfy, but I didn't do it. Wasn't much of an issue for me anyway b/c we rarely went out with DD until she was 3 months and by then she was also taking pumped bottles.

Yep. I try to be discreet and go into bathrooms while at the mall or restaurants. But since we started meeting at the mall on Thursdays, I hate stopping my conversation just to feed the baby. So, I just whip it out there. I do try to cover with a blanket, but those that have seen me know that DS likes to pull it right off. He thinks it's a game of peek-a-boo.

I havent yet but I would really like to get to the point that I am able to. Like I said on the other post, it's not even my own modesty that's stopping me, it's that so many others are still so uncomfortable with it. Not that I want my FIL seeing my bare boob but I wish that it was just as acceptable for him to see mine as it is for me to see his.....

I never thought I would, but I do. I'm very discreet about it and wear a cover. I applaud every mother who does. Our society has to change. They say the breast is best but as long as you do it behind closed doors. It really infuriates me!

When I was BFing, I did it in public, but like I said in the other post, I was always covered up.

I do and I do not wear a cover. I'm discreet, I wear a nursing top when I know we'll be in public. I pull the shirt right down to her face, anyone who looks would see less than they would if I had a low cut shirt on (which I can't wear because if DD sees my cleavage she gets whiny and wants to eat immediately even if she's not hungry)

I've nursed in an airport, at a baseball game (in a picnic area), on an airplane, in a couple of restaurants, and a few other places.

Once someone came over to see the baby and grabbed her hand. I said, I'm sorry she is eating right now and shouldn't be distracted. They had no idea I was nursing her.

I wouldn't say I do..although I do feel comfortable in places like the BRU Mommy room and if I'm visiting friends at their home. I will excuse myself to another room even in my own home if my FIL is here. I just don't feel comfortable in front of certain people. As far as the mall, church, I don't. I feel too self conscious but I have always been that way. I am very envious of people who can do it in public! I always need my Boppy.

Yup! I've done it in restaurants, the park, my car, BRU...if she's hungry, I'm feeding her. I've always covered up when out in public.

I try to find a nursing room or something more private but I have BF in public but only with a cover...

Sure did. I was uncomfortable at first, but it really isn't any big deal.

I can't directly BF Kristina due to her reflux, but would definitely do it in public if I could.

My kids are older and haven't been breastfed in a LOOOONG time.

I breastfed whenever and wherever I needed to. That included when I was in a public place from time to time. I always carried a shawl and I was always very discreet - because I am a very modest girl and cognizant of the fact that there are weird and lecherous people who might not get that a breast is not necessarily for sex. When breastfeeding in my own home I never wore a cover - even if I had guests. Most people knew that coming to my home meant that they might possible catch a quick glimpse of a boob when latching or detaching. But again - that's what breasts are for!

I know some people may have been uncomfortable - but my child's hunger trumped anyone else's discomfort.

Upon reading others posts, I realized that I have! I nursed DS in airports, on the plane, in my car. When we were out, I would generally try to find a fitting room or a nursing room (like at babies r us),but I just would feed him when needed!

I do. Sometimes I cover up, sometimes I don't. It totally depends on who is around.

I will add that when I am home and have guests sometimes I feed DD in the living room with all the guests and sometimes I take her upstairs. Again, it depends on who the guests are. For example the best man at our wedding is the guy that introduced DH & I. However he is a total breast man and would get too much of a cheap thrill watching me feed DD so when he is here I take her upstairs. As for the rest of DH's bridal party - I would not leave the room to feed DD.
