POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

Babies under a year old
do you put your child to sleep with a bottle, biinky or rock them to sleep??

I put her down with a bottle but I am starting to regret this because I dont think it will be good for her once she gets her teeth....but then again I will be taking the bottle away by 1yr old anyway so I am not sure

Re: POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

I feed him a bottle... I can tell if he's sleepy when I burp him - he'll put his head on my shoulder....

I then rock him a little, and put him on his belly into his pack n play... he will shift into a comfortable position... sometimes push himself up and look around a few times, and then lay his head down and go to sleep!

Re: POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

I put DS in his crib and I feed him his bottle or he holds it himself. Once he as had the last drop and you hear the air suck, he spits the bottle out, and puts his paci in his mouth, rolls over and goes to sleep! Same drill every night!!!!!

Lily get s a bath at 8:30. I lotion her up, dry her off and then give her a bottle around 9pm. Sometimes she gets a little sleepy, sometimes she's wide awake. I get the burps out, and then put her in the swing with a pacifier. She falls asleep around 10 and at 11ish, we bring her up to her crib.

Re: POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

7:45pm-8:15pm: bottle
8:30pm-9:30pm: diaper change, put PJ on, lay him on boppy pillow next to me on the sofa. Sometimes with a pacifier and me holding his hand and telling him "mommy is here". He likes LOTS of reassuring that I won't leave him. Then transfer him to bassinet.

Re: POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

We start the night time routine at 7 with a bottle of BM. Then burp, change, nurse for a few minutes in the glider to *calm* her, then she gets swaddled and into the crib she goes- usually awake.

We have the Tiny Love mobile that she watches for about 10 minutes and falls asleep.

She is still not sleeppmg through the night though.....

ETA: she's usually asleep by 8

Before DD turned one I nursed her to sleep. Now we have a nighttime routine of milk & cookies, bath, vitamins and brushing teeth, read a story then into her crib wide awake. She puts up a small fuss for less than 5mins then she's off to sleep til the morning.

Both my kids went into bed with nothing when they were under a year. Neither took a pacifer and their last bottle was way before they actually were put in their crib. But.... they each sucked their thumb to go to sleep!

I probably should have said "Other".
DS NEEDS the music on his mobile in order to fall asleep.
During the day, He NEEDS the music on his PNP. He absolutley adores music.
No bottles, He hates the pacifier.
Just some music, an occasional "Tushie Tap" and he's out.

He is 8 months old (this Sat. he will be 8 months).

Re: POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

I give Jayden a bottle, play with him a little, change his diaper and put on his PJs. He sits in my lap while I read Nate a story. I give him his paci, lay him down on his tummy and pat his back for 2-3 mins. He usually falls asleep within 5 min.

I wish putting Nate to sleep was that easy. At 2 yrs old he still needs physical contact to fall asleep.

Lucas gets a bath at 6:30/7 pm and then after lotion/massage we say good night to everything in our path as we make our way to his room. I rock him and feed him his last bottle for the day and once he falls asleep I take him to the crib. As I shift his position from cradled to over my shoulder I burp him (although he usually does it on his own with the movement) and then I slide him into the crib on his belly. Sometimes he wakes us, shifts to a more comfortable position and goes to sleep - other times he continues to sleep from my arms to the crib.

Re: POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

No pacifier and NO bottle, just some toys and her blankie.
After seeing what the pacifier does to the teeth and shape the face/jaw and the cavities the bottle does unless its just water- oy vey!

DD has 2 teeth and 2 more are starting.

Re: POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

I give DS a bath between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Put on his pajamas, give him bottle while rocking in glider where he usually falls asleep or almost asleep. I put him over my shoulder to burp - sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't and then lay him on his back in his crib. He usually wakes up briefly, looks at me, fusses a little, I put the paci in his mouth and he closes his eyes and goes to sleep. He's asleep between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. He goes to sleep easily, the problem is that he wakes up several times a night for his pacifier (most nights) sometimes only after an hour or two of sleeping and lately, after he had been doing without his middle of the night bottle (just waking for paci), he's starting to want bottle in the middle of the night again some nights. Last night he woke twice for bottle - bed at 8 p.m. woke for paci at 10:30 p.m., woke for bottle at 1 a.m., and bottle at 4:30 a.m. Ugh!!

Re: POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

I give bottle, then rock and rock and rock for about 15 minutes. Then he starts to doze and I put him down, he takes the paci and goes to sleep. Usually.

He needs the bottle for his naps. I HATE that, but my mom and grandma got him into that habit. I just hope now I don't have a difficult time with him now that we'll be switching over to milk soon.Chat Icon

Re: POLL.......how do you put your BABY to bed

under a year she was going to bed with a bottle and a binky. That's what worked for us. At 17 months she is off the binky, she'll take a bottle before bed, but is awake when I put her down.

Same here.

However, lately that hasn't been working either so I've been rocking him after he's eaten.

I am confused about something...

ppl say it is not good to give your baby a bottle right before bed as it is bad for their teeth.....When are you supposed to feed them their last bottle? Someone enlighten me please

I confused about this too.

I was always under the impression if you actually put the baby to bed with a milk bottle in their mouth and they suckle all night long that leads to bottle rot.

To answer to question
My 2 month old goes to bed awake swaddled and always has, no rocking no soothing, no paci, no bottle

My 16 month old has her last milk bottle at 7:30pm, goes to bed around 8, awake, no soothing, no rocking, no paci.
