POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
the MMR? I know this has been asked over and over, but we planned on waiting and our ped gave us a hard time with our decision. I was just curious how many of you did decide or didn't decide to give DC the MMR.
If yes, and you feel like sharing, I'd love to get feedback on how your DC handled it.
Thanks in advance

Re: POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
We gave DS the MMR on time, not split up or anything. I don't buy into this vaccination link to autism thing anyway. We plan to give DD the MMR the same way as well.

Re: POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
waiting, and I switched drs over it.
I brought it up at his 9 month appt, dr flipped, stormed out of office in a tantrum that he is wasting his time and why would I go to him if I think he was trying to harm my baby.
So that was that. If we survived without the mmr from birth to 1 year, I am sure we will be okay till he is 2 years old.
I do believe in shots, I just don't understand what the rush is for.

Re: POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
We are waiting until she is 3 1/2 or 4 years old.Children do not need it until theyenter the public school system. Most children are diagnosed with Autism at age 2 or 2 1/2. If the MMR even plays a .0001% role in having autism we are not doing it until she is older. This way we know she has hit all of her milestones.

Re: POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
DS received the MMR on time and in one shot.
I will admit there was a short time where I had some concerns but I definitely do not regret it.
I don't believe there is a link between vaccines and autism. I've done my homework, I have two pediatric neurologists in my family to consult with on these matters, and I have seen things that to ME, prove that there is no link.

Re: POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
I've done all the research, and IMHO, with no scientific link between shots and Autism, but plenty of scientific documentation between measles, mumps, rubella and serious complications or death (yes, it's rare, but it does happen), it was a cut and dry decision for us.
Both DC get all the scheduled shots on schedule, and they've gotten the flu shots, and never had a negative reaction of any kind. Not even a whimper when the needle goes in. DS had a slight soreness in his shoulder from the flu shot, but it went away really fast, and it didn't really bother him.

Re: POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
I love the way my ped spaces out vaccines. She has never gotten more than 2 shots per visit so I've been following his schedule. Haven't got the MMR yet I'm assuming she'll get it when we go back for her 18mth well visit.

Same here. I looked into it and researched it as best I could. I found there to be more risk in not vaccinating on time then that of the MMR shot.
Also, the doctor who first published a supposed link between Autism and the MMR shot is being charged and is facing losing his license (if he hasn't already).

Re: POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
I gave it to DS and didn't think twice about it. Honestly I'm glad that I didn't know too much because I never worried about it. DS was fine and is fine. He didn't have any reactions and I will do the same thing with baby boy #2 next year.
I had a conversation with my Ped about it way after the fact because a friend of mine brought it up. I agree with him (Ped) that there is more risk to not giving it ontime to DC and other children adults. The exposure to a small child could be fatal and that's not worth it.
Can I ask what are everyone's reservations regarding the MMR? Wjy would you split it up?

My DD is suppose to get it this month at her 15 month check up, but I am waiting. I haven't decided if she will get it at 18 months or 2 years old.

Re: POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
I don't believe in the connection between MMR and autism. I may consider splitting it up just to be safe, though. I plan to do all other vaccines according to the AAP guidelines. I also plan to continue to read more, so I may change my mind.

We did not wait or split it up and my son did fine and is fine. I spoke to the ped about it and he made me feel confident that it was the best thing to do. I trust him 100%.

Re: POLL:Yes or No...Did/Will your child receive
My son will get it at 15 months. I didn't give it at 12 months b/c he was getting the flu shot and I didn't want to do 2 separate shots at one time. I was concerned about all the hype lately with the autism link, but in my heard of hearts I don't believe there is such a link. Besides, neither the MMR shot nor the individual shots contain thimerosol anymore (at least the ones my ped. uses) so I don't see the point in splitting it up.

We had ours on the normal schedule - not split up and at 12 months.
