Port Orleans French Quarter
OK so I got my amounts and Wilderness Lodge is SO much more than POFQ. So now I am trying to get pumped for POFQ b/c we will most likely be going with this resort instead.
Any tips, observations, reviews?
PS: I am already turning into an annoying Disney person and I have not even been there yet, SORRY for all the questions!

With prices next year we are having a hard time deciding where we want to stay.
Check out this site for POFQ and POR info...

I am in a similar boat.
I won't run through the thoughts that are going through my head because I don't want to hijack your post.
I suggest checking out mousesavers.com. It's been very helpful to me in analyzing what to do here. There is a whole section where they comment on almost every resort. While it's based on someone's opinion, they also give the reasoning and facts behind why they feel the way they do so you can draw your own conclusions.
I have also posted and read posts on disboards.com but I am finding mousesavers much more helpful. I find the layout of disboards to be very busy and not the easiest to navigate quickly. It's also almost too much information. Plus some of those people are just nuts.

Lol I second mousesavers it is an excellent resource! She really breaks down how to get the most out of your vacation/best bang for your buck. I like that she has broken down packages/booking separetely etc. Her car rental tips have helped a lot of people I know. The site has been written up in NYT, Wall Street journal etc.
Disboards have to be taken like most posting boards even LIF. There are some very helpful cast members and others posters and there are complete garbage too. You have to read a bit of everything to get a good consensus but ignore the drama or crazy posters. Of course there are hot button topics like there are on here. I avoid those but find that you can get some great restaurant and resort tips over there. There are also lots of pictures which can be more helpful sometimes than a review because you can see things for yourself.

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter
Thank you!
Jenn, feel free to post here or FM me! I have been planning in my head for months and now that its almost official, I am sort of disappointed about the price difference! I knew it would be a difference, but thought it would be a "splurge" but that is more of a splurge than I can handle at the moment.
I even showed DH the amounts so I cant just book and lie to him later, he will keep me grounded in reality LOL
I will check out mousesavers.
Disboards. . .SCARE ME OMG - great tips, great pictures but the people are scary

Disboards...um..no comment really. For every awesome person and piece of good advice, there's a mean person and totally deal wrong info. Proceed with caution.
I actually LOVE POFQ. It's my favorite moderate. It's small and intimate. It's absolutely beautiful and peaceful to walk around. It has one of the coolest water slides on property, and it has a beautiful boat ride to DTD. Don't forget you can also do over to POR and see Yeeha Bob, too.
I have said this 1000x, but I have had AWESOME vacations at ALL resort levels. I can say one resort was better than another in some ways, but I can't really say one made my whole vacation better (other than any time you can walk to a park. I will admit, i'm a sucker for that). You can always visit Wilderness Lodge, which IS a very special place, and have a meal at Whispering Canyon Cafe, which is always a hoot!
EVERY Disney resort has something unique to offer. I've really enjoyed all of the ones I've stayed in.

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter
Another Question:
Would you upgrade from Standard to Courtyard for only about $60? I know there are no balconies, but would this maybe get us a quieter or better room in some way?
TIA!

I would consider it. At the mods you have exterior corridors so the sound could be louder. Standards face parking lots. So even if you don't care about the view there is the possibility of hearing people coming and going in cars late at night or early morning. For only $60 I would consider it. So I guess it just depends if this is something that would bother you or not.

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter
I had standard view and I didn't notice any issues with noise. I spent very little time in the room though. $60 isn't a bad upgrade though.

Thanks! I am going for the upgrade!
Have you ever seen anyone hanging out on the walkway outside of the room? I have to hide from DD so she falls asleep lmao

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter
We stayed there last year and I thought it was great. The room was nice, the pool was nice too. I have no other comparisions because it was our first trip to Disney but I had no complaints at all.

Are the buses shared? I read that they are, then that they aren't, then that they are sometimes. Then that they go sometimes to POFQ then to POR 4 stops. Since you have stayed there - what is the real situation? Thinking we might book here save money - then if free dining comes out - then we might decide if we still want to upgrade to WL or AKL or keep the money and do BBB or something else instead with the extra. We will have a city mini double and 4 and 6 year olds with us on the buses. Or should we go with the Royal Guest Rooms? Thinking that FQ is cheaper, less walk for food/drinks/pool, maybe easier buses? Both look like nice places. Would go with either GV at FQ or RGR GV at POR.

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter
I have visited POFQ a few times and ate there. I loved the food court there to be honest! And the grounds, I have a few pics that are some of my absolute favorites. Honestly, I have read the pool there is one of the best of ALL the hotels, including the deluxes.
Stay there without hesitation!!!

I've stayed at POFQ 5 times and the buses are shared sometimes. It all depends on occupancy at the resorts and crowd levels at each particular theme park.
POFQ will be easier on you with the girls, but the Royal Guest Rooms really are special. As much as I adore POFQ (it's my favorite Moderate by far) I'd say choose POR - RGR for this trip, Christine.

Thank you Kim! They both look great. I know the POR RGRs would be a big hit. I think that is what we will end up with. DH is thinking we would book that but if free dining comes out consider going to AKL or WL. While I think we would love any of them I'm thinking save the money and put the savings towards BBB. I think he is worried about the buses at the mods with the stroller and the 2 girls after spending 2 trips at the Poly. Saw minivans for around $250 for the same week is it worth the hassle of lugging bags to have it at the mods? We had one at AKL and our 1st Poly trip and never used it. I prefer to NOT get the bags, get on and off trams etc but DH wants what is easier for him. I think we are better with the buses. I have onnly stayed at CBR and with my parents many years ago with a rental car so unsure. Also buses with just the two of us is very different than w/ a stroller and 2 kids. I think I'm totally overthinking it all. I help all our friends book their trips so you would think after helping with30-40 trips the decision would easy but it isn't. They are always happy so I should just relax and go for it. Just want this to be the perfect trip for the girls.
How far is the walk from RGRs to the food court and better bus stop.
To the OP soory I hijacked your thread
