Where can I get 'em? Any recommendations or advice?

Re: Portable Air Conditioners
We got ours last year from BJs - it's by Haier and I think it was around $300.

Re: Portable Air Conditioners
I never liked portable air conditioners. They never work as well as window/wall units and are way more expensive.
I saved one window AC that I had before I did my CAC conversion for "just in case days".
I figure if my CAC ever goes out on a day like today I can easily pop the AC in the window and have at least one cool room (preferably the bedroom).

We didnt go with the portable, we werent crazy about the idea. SO, since we have casement windows, we used one from our old apartment sideways, and Dh bought a new casement A/C. Thanks!!!

Re: Portable Air Conditioners
We bought one last year at Home Depot.
We checked Target, but unless you get there at 8am on their sale day, you're out of luck!!!
Also, keep in mind, that once the unit fills up with water, it turns off. We had night's last summer that this happened, and we had to empty the water before it would turn itself back on.

The one I have automatically pumps the water out through a tube that is inside the air vent, so I never have to deal with the water. I didn't want to have to deal with what you just mentioned. (I hear it draining outside right now.... )
We have annoying casement windows, so a portable unit was the only thing I could get to fit in the window and still have a digital temp control.
