Positive carrier for cystic fibrosis
I found out that I tested positive as a carrier for cystic fibrosis. Please pray that my husbands blood comes back negative as a carrier. 
We won't know for about 2 weeks.

me too! I panicked but once I thought about the chances of that happening - I felt a lot better. Even if he is a carrier, its not 100% that the baby will have it. Its still only a 25% chance.

I'm also a carrier for CF...thankfully my boyfriend wasn't. I know it's scary but even if your husband is a carrier the chance of your child having it is very slim.

I'm a carrier as well.... We don't know if Brian is - we decided not to find out.
What God gives us will be our blessing regardless of what happens.

I tested positive as well and it made me nervous, so I did some research. There are many different CF markers they test for and all combinations due not lead to CF.
Your DH would have to have the same genetic marker as you or another one that is known to combine with that one. Even if your DH has the same CF genetic marker as you there is only a 25% that the baby will have CF. Stay positive.

How did you guys get tested for that? Do you have to ask for it? Oh man - I never thought about this because it isn't in my family.
that your DH isn't a carrier. I'm sure its fine. I didn't realize there are so many carriers.

they tested for it automatically on my first visit. I dont even think they would normally mention it if everything came back normal

My doc recommended it even though there were no signs of it in my family she wrote me a reference to a genetics screening counselor and then I had my bloodwook done at quest labs.
