Positive induction stories
Anyone have any uplifting stories about being induced to have their kids? I'm on a blood thinner so my doctor is saying that it's best to try to induce labor so that they can control bleeding issues by stopping the meds the night before I'm induced and b/c I have to have a clotting profile done by the hospital prior to starting labor especially if I want an epidural (which I defintely would like to have). I hear that there are a lot of risks and even pain associated with inducing birth. While it's easy to focus on the scary stuff, I'd like to stay positive about the cards I'm dealt, it was hard enough knowing that I'd have to spend most of my 9 months injecting myself every day in the stomach (twice a day in the last few weeks of the pregnancy) and that I couldn't go into labor the "natrual way", but whatever is safer for the baby and I is what is important of course. You don't have to tell your entire story if you don't want to, just if it was uneventful and nothing devastating I'd love to know such birthing stories exist. Any words of wisdom, advice and questions to discuss with my doctor ahead of time would also be appreciated. I'm only at the 20 week mark of my pregnancy so there's still plenty of time to see the doctor before the "big day".

Re: Positive induction stories
I was also on blood thinner for a clotting issue (homozygous MTHFR) and I was induced...I was on pitocin for 6 hours with no prgression and wound up with a c-section. I had a GREAT experience and good recovery and gave birth to a beautiful 9lb 8oz baby girl
good luck, you will be fine
as far as the pain, my contractions were 2 minutes apart when I got the epi (if you are induced, you can get the epi whenever you want) so the pain was bearable

Here-I was induced -it was a pretty uneventful labor. After the cervadil, pitocin and epidural- 15 minutes and 4 pushes came my sweet baby girl.

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced at 37w5d and had a fantastic experience!
My entire induction took about 10 hours from start to finish (and I slept through a good portion of that). The cervadil went in, and my water broke about 30 minutes later. About 30 minutes after that, I got the epidural and picotin. All I felt was a little pressure and was able to sleep from 2cm - almost 10cm. My doctor actually had to wake me up to tell me I was fully dilated and was ready to push. Hubby almost missed the labor because I sent him home thinking it would take much longer!
I only pushed for 35 minutes and my DD was born.

Re: Positive induction stories
I have MTHFR and was on Lovenox throughout my pregnancy, Heparin the final 4 weeks - which turned into 4 weeks and 10 days.
My OB originally did not want me to go past my due date for the same reasons yours doesn't want you to. But, I was monitored closely and everything seemed to be fine - except DD was way too comfy and made NO moves downward!! So at 10 days past my due date I finally had a scheduled c-section.
So no I wasn't induced but in the end, if it seems you are going past your due date, the OB may just let you go a little while closely monitored.

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced a week after my due date. I actually started having contractions of the morning of my induction which was scheduled for that evening. I labored for 12 hours at home and then another 24 at the hospital. I wouldnt dilate past 3cm, so I wound up with a c section. The contractions s u c ked, but overall I had a very good experience.

Re: Positive induction stories
I was giving pitocin to try and "speed" things up being I was in labor for so long. The pitocin does make the contraction come on faster and more painful, then I opted for the epidural and I felt good

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced at 39 weeks due to preeclampsia.
I had cervedil, then pitocin, then a demoral cocktail that knocked me out until I got my epi and then I was woken up (yes WOKEN UP) to push at 9:00pm and he was born at 9:59pm.
I did fracture my tailbone during delivery, but I was told that was because I was in bed for almost 24 hours and couldn't move around during my labor, but I would still say my labor was a positive one.

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced (I was high risk due to my asthma) and had a great exp.
I got the cervidil which gave me contractions so I experienced that end and had to have pain meds to get through the night the next morning I got the pitocin & epi. (thank God!!!) It was long and tiring but I made it naturally with assistance of forcepts.

Mine was similar, I was induced at 2 1/2cm with only ptocin and dilated fast with a few pushes DS was out. O think the whole thing took 6 hours. Easy recovery too

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced because I was over a week late. I was almost 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced when I got to the hospital. I never had a contraction on my own. When I arrieved at the hospital I was given pitocin and within an hour or 2 they broke my water. Received an epi a couple of hours after that. All in all I found it to be a great experience. From start to finish it was 10 hours.
If given the choice I would induce again.
Good luck

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced and the birth experience itself was very good. I got an epidural, didnt feel a thing during contractions and delivery (pushed for an hour). I had bad epidural complications but not at all related to the induction. Good luck

Re: Positive induction stories
I had GD so I was induced 6 days before my due date and I hope for baby #2 I am induced again. I loved the planning part of it and I felt like the doctors were in control of my labor more.

Re: Positive induction stories
I was on bed rest from 32 weeks and was induced at 37 weeks. The doc stripped my membranes in his office and then sent me to hospital. When I got to the hospital they did an enema (sorry if TMI). They say that can help bring on contractions. I got petocin at 4PM and my epidural by 9PM. Doc broek my water around then. From there I progressed from 3CM to 10CM by 1:30AM. I pushed for a little over an hour and DD was born at 3AM. So 11 hours from start to finish. A little rough going with recovery though....lots of stitches and hemmoroids.
GL and keep thinking those positive thoughts!

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced 2 days prior to my EDD and had a wonderful birth experience. I was started on pitocin around 2 PM, got the epi at 6, dr. broke my water at 7 and I pushed for about 35-45 mins and had my son at 3:05 AM. No major pain, no side effects. Everything went nice and smooth for me. All the best to you too.

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced 3 days after my due date. Got cervadil overnight, then pitocin in the morning around 11:30am. Got an epi at 1pm and felt urge to push at 4:30pm. Had to wait 15 min for my OB to come from her office. Started pushing at 5 and baby was born at 5:21pm after 3 pushes.

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced 2 weeks before my DD (Bella was basically ready to come- I was diolating and pretty much fully effaced when they decided to schedule me- I was sick for the whole preg. that;s why they decided to induce. DD was fine all along!) I got an epi right away and felt nothing! I would do it all again the same way~
ETA: L&D was quick painless and easy!

Re: Positive induction stories
I was induced with DS#1. It was a great and uneventful experience and I wished I could have been induced with #2 but I couldnt so I needed to have a section. Good luck!
