Post-partum Belly Wrapping
Does anyone know anything about this or intend to do it? I think I need to do something after this pregnancy (I didn't after my 1st), but I so don't feel like spending $65 on a Belly Bandit. My DS's babysitter, who's from Trinidad said they just use fabric there. I'm wondering how this all works and if it really makes a difference.

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
after DS, I asked my Dr if she had anything for me and she gave me this velcro, girdle thingy at the hospital. It was so uncomfortable though I never wore it! I would love to find something easier to wear!
ETA: i just looked up the "belly bandit" and that is what mine looked like. i would ask your dr if they can give you something at the hospital...its the same thing and i didnt have to pay for it!

my mom is a nurse and she said the same thing when i told her about it - she said "just ask the dr. at the hospital for an abdominal binder and they'll give you one for free"...so that's what i'll be doing!!

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
Yup, in Italy - they send all the women home with a velcro wrapping. Every morning just have someone put it on as tightly as possible. I personally think it makes a difference. I wear the bella band every day under my clothes to have the same effect and once I grow out of it I will be buying a pregnancy girdle. I think it really helps your stomach muscles. And now that I am used to it, I don't understand how girls walk around without some kind of support - when I take mine off it feels like when I walk around without a bra! I just don't wear it when I am wearing something very tight, like leggings.

A friend bought me a Medala post-partum wrap and swears by it. I also like the idea of wearing the bella band. When do you start wearing it? Right away?

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
I bought a girdle called Squeem from amazon & the swelling in my belly went down after a week.. what I have left to loose can only be done by toning & working out which we are not allowed to do until our 6 week PP Dr's appt but at least I don't look 5 months preggo after just giving birth.
fyi-- the sizing on the sqeem is small.. I had to order 2 sizes up & then still needed DH to help me fasten it up.

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
I cannot imagine wrapping myself so tightly while in the hospital...after I gave birth I just wanted to be comfy.
But it is something I've thought about-just can't bring myself to do it.

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
One word...
Girdle...$9.99 form Walmart...I put it on the day after I gave birth and never took it off...only to shower. I kept on going done a size until my uterous and stomach shrunk back...probably 6 weeks. I was in my pre-preggo pants 8 days post partum!! Best.thing.ever.
Some older lady in the hair salon recommended it to me and said that they all did it when they were younger.
eta: I asked my doc in the hospital if I could put it on and she said I could. I had a c-section and I think it helped with not having that pouch above my scar as well...

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
wearing the belly bandit literally right now...love it. not always comfy but my stomach has gone down so much already (gave birth monday). If you get it, get the bamboo one...def softer then the original
ETA: when I showed my doctor I was wearing one the day i went home, he told me it was unnecessary as I wasnt 300lbs so I was glad I bought one b/c I have a feeling if I asked for something to go home with he would have refused me.

pretty much true to size...measured myself at 8.5 months like they recommend and ordered that size. You are suppose to begin wearing it the day after you give birth. I decided to see if I could get it around my belly the day i gave birth and I couldn't yet LOL. but by the next day it went on fine and it has been getting loser since. I also ordered the next size down for when this one is to big

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
I wore a girdle bought from Macys after both pregnancies. I think it helped. As my grandma used to say...it's better to hold it in then to let it all hang out.

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
My mom was shocked that I didn't wrap my belly after my C section- apparently everyone does this in Latin America to pull your stomach back in. I spoke to my OB about it at my last visit and she told to absolutely do it especially since I am having my second DD relatively close in age to my first.
I saw this in a pregnancy magazine its a girdle called the Bellefit, but its kinda pricey. Has anyone gotten it? I like that you can unclip the crotch to go to the bathroom without having to take the whole thing off, LOL

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
I wore my spanx after DS was born and swear that is why I don't have a pouch. I never thought to ask at the hospital so I'm going to ask my OB at my next appointment to see if they have them or if I should go buy one!

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
I did it with DS#1 on my aunt's reccomendation because I told her I am not a sanitary napkin girl and was dreading having to wear one. So she suggested that I go to Target or Kamrt and buy those "support underwear" that are super tight and suck you in and have a girdle like effect with a super high waist...and lemme just tell you ladies...It was the BEST thing I EVER did. I bought like 3 or 4 of them and just washed them daily, i didn't wear anything else for 2 months and I was back to my old shape in 6 weeks. Keep in mind I gained 50lbs and did not breastfeed with DS#1 either. All i did was slimfast, the belly support and walk.
I swear by it and just bought 4 new pairs for this delivery. It's the best thing EVER especially if you skeeve wearing pads because the snug fit makes you hardly even notice you are wearing one.
I just bought a new one from Macy's today, they had an awesome selection. I got one that comes all the way up to just underneath the "girls" so it also helps avoid love handles and the loose belly bulge. Some of them are a bit pricey depending on where you go but the one I got at Macys was $27 and at Target $14-16

Re: Post-partum Belly Wrapping
I had a c section and wore a girdle (a hook and eye one) but it was so uncomfy , I think I only wore it a couple days. being this is my second i'm going to have to suck it up and really wear it bc summer will be right around the corner! I'm goin gto ask my doc to see what she says, esp bc I'm not planning on BF. My belly did go flat w/ the first one but it took a long time!
