It is a "Radio" station via computer or Application. You can pick your favorite artist and it will generate music from their site. I use my iPhone at work to listen to the music. That way I get to hear what ever I am in the mood for.
Occasionally there is a commerical that last 30 seconds.. but that is it.

I listen to it all day at work and it would time-out after a certain period of 'inactivity'. If you don't go back to the site and click on the thumbs up/down, the music will stop playing and you'll get a "Are you still listening?" message.
Since I listen to it all day, and play it when we have parties through our wireless speakers, I paid the $36.00 for the subscription. No ads, no interruptions. I'm a big fan.

I wanted my wedding song to be "forever my friend" but DH poo poo'd that so I had it as the opening song in our wedding video.
