Postpartum anxiety - doc recommendation?
Starting 2 and a half weeks after having ds i started feeling so anxious that i would wake up feeling nauseous, gagging, with no appetite. I called mu ob and he said i must have a virus. I called mu general doc and he said if was anxiety and gave me a low dose of xanax to take every 8 hrs as needed. Ive been taking the pill once per day in the morning and it works but by the next morning im back to square one. Im afraid to take more than one pill per day as it makes me a bit drowsy but then i wake up sick to my stomach. Has anyone gone through this? How long will it last? Did seeing a therapist help? If so can you recommend yours preferably in nassau? Just want to feel back to myself again and hate relying on meds :(

Re: Postpartum anxiety - doc recommendation?
If you see a therapist they may prescribe you something a bit more long acting. I see a nurse practitioner in Port Jeff.
Also, have you asked DH to take over some night feedings and take it at night before bedtime? Sleep is so important for your healing!
ETA: even if you need meds it doesn't mean you will be on them forever. It's just to get you through your hormones regulating. I would go back to your OB and explain everything again and mention the Xanax helped and you would like a therapist referral.
Feel better!
