Potty training - Holding pee all day!
We resumed potty training after DS was no longer sick.
Last week he was in pull ups and he refused to pee in the potty but he would pee 10 minutes after the pull up was back on.
We started underwear yesterday. DS has been holding his pee ALL DAY. The minute he has a diaper on, he will pee. We put him on the potty every 20 minutes. Yesterday he finally peed at 6pm in his booster seat.
Today... again no pee since this morning. On potty every 20 minutes all day.
His teacher said it was somehow a good sign because he associated diapers with free pee without much awareness but the fact that he does not pee means that he knows he "cannot" pee in his pants.
Anyone had to deal with that?

we are having the SAME issues. He is holding it all day, although he is having better luck at school than at home.

Re: Potty training - Holding pee all day!
DS did this a bit at the beginning of potty training. I'd put him on the potty and nothing...within 5mins he'd pee his pants. We put him straight in underwear though...no pullups.
I got great advice and this worked like a charm for my little one. Put him on the potty and make him sit there for 5mins. With me this was a bit tricky because he'd scream and jump off. I got a toy & book which he could only use when he was on the potty. This distracted him and sure enough within the 5mins he'd pee. If he did not pee, then I'd take him off after 5mins and bring him back within the next 15mins. Usually he would pee by then. He only had to do this for a few days and then he got the hang of it. Good luck!

YES!!!
2 days in a row he peed in the kitchen at 6pm-6:30pm when we were not watching.
Yesterday he did not even pee in his diaper on his way home (he rides the bus so we have to put a diaper on)
To answer the other question. We do put him on the potty every 20 minutes. NOTHING!!!! He will sit on it but not pee
BUT this morning he peed about 1/2 gallon the floor while sitting on the potty. I used about 1/2 roll of viva paper towels.

Re: Potty training - Holding pee all day!
Have you tried a reward chart?
We used one with different levels of success. I bought it at BBB for under $10. DD put a star in each line as a success was made.
1-Telling me or Dh she had to go.
2-Getting to the bathroom quickly.
3-Going in the potty.
4-Washing hands.
5-Dry day.
Each time lines 1-4 got 5 stars a sticker was given.
We discussed and decided on a big reward for line 5, when she achieved 5 dry days - a princess dress.
Our celebrations for anything in the potty were way, way over the top, singing, dancing, laughing, clapping, calling grandparents, we made BIG deal over her early successes (and some of our own to help get the idea across) and I feel that really helped.
Hang in there, we all get it eventually.

He does not understand that. M&M has been our reward. He can only have M&M if he goes on the potty.

Re: Potty training - Holding pee all day!
I'm going through the same thing. At school he holds it all day and then the flood gates open at nap.....he's come home in different pants at least every other day for the past few weeks!!
I'll take him to the bathroom and ask him all day long if he has to go and he says no. He'll barely even let me know after he's pooped in the pull-up. He pooped in underwear the other day and didn't even care to tell me
We're leaving the pull-up for Santa (just like we left the binky for the binky fairy). I'm hoping this works....I am so over this

Re: Potty training - Holding pee all day!
We are in the midst of potty training. DS is 2.5.
We are now at the point where he has no accidents but will not tell us when he has to go. We will wait up to 2 hours for him to tell us and if he hasn't we tell him it is time to sit on the potty and he goes.
Although we are not in a similar situation. Maybe try expanding the 20 minutes to a half hour or hour. Since he is clearly capable of holding it.
