Potty training--Pull-ups: Yay or Nay?
Last week, we did just underwear which she "christened" both times and resulted in puddles on my floor. I bought "Feel and Learn" pull-ups today. Are these any good? I've heard it's better to go straight to underwear since that's the best/quickest way to learn, but what do I know?
Your thoughts?

Re: Potty training: Pull-ups? Yay or Nay?
No, no, no, no, NO!
No pull-ups!!! They are glorified diapers!
just let her continue to wet herself and just keep changing her undies. I know how messy and annoying it is to keep having to change them, but she will get it!

Re: Potty training--Pull-ups: Yay or Nay?
I have found that Pull-Ups have helped. It makes it easier for her to pull her "panties" down and do it all by herself...
And, she likes to do peepee on the potty, but poop...well, that's a different story. And after FOUR times of accidents, we are focused on peeing first.

I've heard mixed things on Pull-ups. DS tends to stay pretty dry in them and I use them when we're out of the house, but I agree -- they're not much different than diapers and that can confuse some kids.
You can get plastic covers to go over training pants at BuyBuyBaby and BabiesRus. I think this is a better way to go because your daughter can really feel that she is getting wet, but you won't have such a mess to clean up. That's what I do with DS.
If you can handle the mess, though she might learn quickest in just cotton pants.

Target sells thick cotton potty training underwear......so if they have an accident it's not a total diaster....I think they come 3 in a pack. They're great!

Nay on the pull ups.
Like the other poster's have said, it's a glorified diaper and doesn't help getting them into undies. Both of my sister's have said that they only use pull ups for accidents at night.

Re: Potty training--Pull-ups: Yay or Nay?
didn't use pull ups for training. I tried one day and it was just as messy as undies for me so why bother. Luckily - my son trained easily with very few accidents. I used the overnight ones here and there for naps when he was up to sleeping without a diaper but I was afraid to let him. I have been using overnights ones now since he isn't ready to be trained for bedtime.

ITA. DS didn't start to "get" potty training until we ditched the pull-ups and used underwear with the plastic underpants over them.

I went right to underwear... That trained him in less than 3 days.
I did use pull-ups at night at first, but he trained at night too so we ditched them after a month or two.
