Potty Training Question
Marley is 11 weeks old. We have been pad training her because we live in NYC and were advised not to take her outside until she is vaccinated (although we are going to talk to the vet about starting to take her outside after her next round of shots). We have had her for about a month. For #1, she goes on the pad 95% of the time, but only 50% of the time for #2. When she goes on the pad, we shower her with parise. If we catch her in the act elsewhere, we pick her up and put her on the pad. I just feel like she does not get it. At this age, how was potty training going for your puppies?
TIA!

Re: Potty Training Question
It can be hard. We got Daisy at 7 weeks old and it took us another month or two to get her on track. she now goes to the back door 98% of the time.
Knock on wood, she hasn't had any accidents in the house for a a couple weeks.
Anyways.....Watch her behavior. Usually about 20-30 min after they drink water, they will need to relieve themselves. Make sure to guide her to the wee wee pad at the time and try using the same word over and over, so she associates it.
I can go outside with Daisy and say go tinkle and she will and then we'll go back inside.
Just give it time and continue to praise her and give her treats when she does it correctly.
Also, some dogs won't go #2 in the same place as they did #1. SO, keep that in mind as well.
