Powder formula- Do you boil water first?

I have been boiling water then letting it cool before I make the bottles but is this an unnecessary step? I have NYC tap water and a water filter on my fridge.

I keep a brita pitcher on my counter so I always have filtered room temp water.

I use tap. If I didn't like my tap, I'd do a Brita on the counter as well.

I have always boiled my water when making formula, I did it for both kids. My Dr recommended it told us not to use spring water or spend the money for "nursery water"

I boil the water first, let it cool then leave it in a covered pitcher on the counter so its room temperature. It's not really a big deal to me since I make tea all the time anyway, I boil a lot of water and just leave that in the kettle and use that water.

Ditto... I keep mine in the fridge though. We have an automatic hot water thing on our sink so I just fill a little container with the hot water for a few and let the bottle sit in there. DS likes it room temp anyway. If we're going out I take a bottled water or fill up the bottle with water and by the time we use it the water in room temp

For the first couple of months I did. Now I just go straight from the tap.

Ok so I see some do and some don't. I understand that it's to 'distill' the water but I'm just wondering if it's necessary. I guess it's a personal preference. Thanks for the input.
