I'm considering switching... though I love love the convenience of the RTF, how much more expensive is it really?

A can of powder is about $20-$25 (depending on sales) and makes 196 fl oz.

Hmm...that only works out to about $4 less for 4 oz more.

I find the powder more convenient because I don't have to warm bottles.

Thanks for posting this. I was considering switching too but now it doesn't seem worth it for me. I get the cases at BBB for $28 something.

I get my cases there too so I rounded up to $29 to work it out.
But I guess if you figure, 1 case/week x 4 weeks you actually end up saving $16/month.

I found this too. Also you don't have to worry about using the RTF up before you need to toss it.
eta. It's also lighter to carry around a bottle with some powder in it & ask for warm water than a full bottle of RTF.

Ah...but I'm forgetting... how many of you use bottled water to make the bottles? That would actually make it more expensive than RTF, wouldn't it?

So do I.
I boil a pot of water and use that throughout the day with the powder.

Re: Powder vs RTF - how much do you really save?
Her formula that she is on now only comes in powder so I don't have a choice but when she was on Similac I only used the powder. I boil water daily (I don't use bottled water unless I am out) Plus I don't have to warm it up.

Re: Powder vs RTF - how much do you really save?
I don't have a choice. With Gentlease, there's only powder. I used to use bottled water, but that was adding up too quickly. I'll still used bottle water if we're traveling, but only then. I now boil it, put it in a pitcher and keep it in the fridge. So, I do have to warm the bottle, but I don't care. Sometimes, if I'm feeling up to it, I'll prepare a whole quart of the formula and keep it in the fridge in the pitcher. That makes things REALLY easy then.

During the week, when I'm working, I boil it in the evening, let it cool down, fill up the bottles and then throw them in the diaper bag so it's all ready for the next day. My mom or MIL just need to add the formula.
When I'm home I usually just leave it in the teapot until I need it.
