Powdered Formula Question
We use ready to feed now - and at night I have the 2oz bottles next to my bed that are a godsend. Problem is that DS is now eating 5ozs so I am opening 3 of the 2oz bottles. I feel like that is such a waste.
Truth of the matter is - I am too lazy in the middle of the night feeding to come down and get the bottle out of the fridge.
Someone recommded to me that I should start using powder for this feeding? If I use powder - the only thing I need to do is fill a bottle up with water before I go to bed. Then once Jack wakes up just put the powder in the bottle and shake it up??
It sounds too good to be true!!! Is this how it goes?

Re: Powdered Formula Question
That's how it goes!
I keep a pitcher of boiled, cooled off water on my counter, pour it in the bottle, add powder, shake up and volia the bottle is made.
I alway kept the big RTF bottles in my very cold fridge, so I had to warm them which was a PITA and I like powder better for that reason.

Re: Powdered Formula Question
Can I just use water from the poland spring dispenser? Or should I boil it first?
ETA: I warm up the Ready to Feed bottles for the rest of the day - I just want no part of that in the middle of the night.

Re: Powdered Formula Question
I use room temp bottled water with powder and it works great for Jack. We learned early on to put a few drops of gas drops in every bottle too

Thanks! It sounds too good to be true! Should I try the powdered during the day to make sure it agrees with him - or it doesn't matter since it's the same brand?

Technically it is the same, but I think the powder is a little thinner, if you want to try it during the day you could, but I think he would be fine. Plenty of moms switch back and forth all of the time.
You don't have to boil the poland spring

Re: Powdered Formula Question
It's funny b/c some people swear powder is easier and some people swear RTF is easier. They both have their pros and cons tho.
I hope it goes well, we are a powder household (that sounds kinda bad )and we like it.

I have a TON of cases of RTF (my cousin works for a ped. and has hooked me up BIG TIME) but my lazy azz still wants no part of getting out of bed in the middle of the night.

Re: Powdered Formula Question
I think powder is easier for when you are out, but I am addicted to RTF in the house, and the cans when we are out because I don't know why but when I used the powder, at the end of the bottle there would be lumps of powder in there. Oops!

I would find that happening when I used cooler water...you really have to give it a good shake

Not always true. My son can't handle the powdered formulas. (This explains why Gentlease was worse for him) We went away for the week and he was on the powdered version of Enfamil Lipil. He spit up all week long. Now that we're home and he's back on the RTF, he's fine! If he's been on RTF all this time, he might have problems with the powder, I would definitely try it out during the day FIRST.

My son had the same reaction to the powdered enfamil. But eventually we had to switch him off enfamil all together. He is now on goodstart, and I am nervous about trying him on the powder.

Hehehe, mine couldn't handle RTF at all. He is on Gentlease.
Crazy, isn't it?
