Pre k Teachers

Out of curiousity does anyone know how much a Pre K teacher makes?

it probably depends on the school and format of the program, but when i taught pre-k its a flat fee per session. and it was peanuts. like $38 for an 8:30-11:30 class or something silly like that. this was also 10 years ago so things may have (hopefully) changed since then

In my district the pre-k teachers are certified, tenured teachers, so they make what the other teachers in the district make, according to the district payscale.

out of curiosity, which district? I didn't realize public schools had pre-k

It varies. Some districts have Universal PreK where the teachers are on the same pay scale as all the other teachers. My friend just got a pre-k job in a school district but it is run through St. Joe's college and I think she makes $225 per day--she doesn't get health benefits and I don't think she gets paid sick days either.

Thank you soo much for all the info. I am certified childhood 1-6 and special ed birth-9. I would love to get an agency position, but in case I can't I would like any info on other options.

In my school (private) we made what the K-8 teachers made & I was fully certified.
