preeclampsia

I am 26 1/2 wks and besides my shortening cervix I am now being tested for preeclampsia. I wound up in the hospital yesterday
I was just wondering if any of you ladies have dealt with this and what happened. I am due in May but with all my complications my Ob is saying 36wks the latest probably closer to 34wks. So now I am dealing with Dr Kofinas deciding if hes gonna do a cerclage AND possible preeclampsia. ADVICE needed!!!

I answered on Parenting but I went through the same thing, just later in pregnancy. It started with the protein in the urine, headaches, swelling, seeing spots around 34 weeks and got worse every day. They monitored me very closely to try to keep the babies in as long as possible. By 36w6d was in full blown preeclampsia and babies were delivered that day. Try not to worry, just make sure you stay monitored.

This is exactly my story. Issues with my cervix the whole time and then I started with major swelling issues. I was tested for preeclampsia probably around 30 weeks? and it was negative. Then at 33 weeks 5 days I went to the dr and my bp was really high and I had protein in my urine. I had a high risk appt the next morning. Little did I know my OB (dr pilliteri) knew he was going to deliver me the next day, he just wanted me to see dr kofinas to make sure the babies were ready to come out! The 2 drs spoke the night I left the OB office and had it all planned out. I wish I knew though because I took my lovenox injection that am and had to go under general anesthesia bc it was too risky to do a spinal with loveonx in my system.
I delivered at 33 weeks 6 days. The babies spent 10 days in the NICU but did GREAT!

Looking back now I didn't realize how crappy I was feeling until it was all over.

I am sure your doctors will keep on top of it. Did you do the 24 hour urine test yet?

i left the hospital last night with it already started and i finished t 4pm today. of course quest is closed by then and I had an appt to drop it off tomo and have the bloods drawn but dr kofinas' office called and changed my appt tomo to earlier time and now i cant make that appt at quest!
you said you had to go under general...did they still let your DH in the OR??

I am a nervous wreck I swear its one thing after another. I WISH DR KOFINAS WAS BACK ALREADY!!!!! UGH!

you delivered at Good Sam I presume? I have been there a couple of times now on L&D and I feel like the nurses up there are so hit or miss. You either get a really nice one or one who HATES her job and everything about it and has no problem letting it be known! DH is an EMT so I'm sure he can handle it, I just want to know that he can at least witness their birth if I can't.
