Re: Preeclampsia moms - post partum hypertension
i was told that it can take up to six weeks for it to go back to normal. when i went back after a week PP mine wasn't lower either. they were relieved. They said that they didnt expect it to go down, they just want to make sure that it isn't still rising. It has to do with your hormones and everything. i've been testing mine at home and about 4-5 weeks pp mine started to get back to normal.

Re: Preeclampsia moms - post partum hypertension
It depends on the person. My SIL recovered in 2-3 months. My friend STILL has high BP and her son is over 3 years old. Her husband wants to have more children but they can't because of her BP. She isn't overweight at all, her body just reacted poorly to her pregnancy.

Re: Preeclampsia moms - post partum hypertension
I never actually developed preeclampsia but did have pregnancy induced hypertension.
After about 4 weeks on the BP meds I went off them and my BP was back to normal, has been ever since.
eta - I was still able to BF with the meds. But for the life of me, I can't remember the name of them.
eta - I was on a 24 hour mag drip, once that stopped my BP went back to normal. Then when Ryan was 2 days old it spiked back up. That is when they put me on medication.

Re: Preeclampsia moms - post partum hypertension
let me know if i can help at all... i had emergency setcion due to my bp being 210/180
i was in the hospital for 5 days after delivery because it wouldnt come lower then like 180/98
i finally begged to go home because dd was going to be released and they told me to see my PCP the next morning. i went to pcp i was on bp meds i dont remember what it was. but they thought it might have had something to do with the 14 weeks of turbutaline i was on via T-pump. i was on those meds for about a month. and it brought it back down to "normal" but its still not at MY normal which was the same as yours 100/60 14 months later.. my new "norm" is 128/80. They said with in the next few years AND if i have another pregnancy i will most likely have high blood pressure for the rest of my life and will most likley need life long meds.
