Pregnancy Depression/Anxiety
Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, what did you or your Dr do about it?
I was on an anti-anxiety-depression medication prior to pregnancy and it really helped me. I didn't feel severely depressed before I was pregnant, I just had a hard time focusing and bad anxiety at times. I stopped the medication when I found out I was pregnant and noticed I was very moody all the time. I am 20 weeks now and still having severe mood swings. I have been chalking it up to "hormones", but it is getting really bad. I am sad and feeling "alone" all the time, even though I am surrounded by family. I have no patience at all for my children and feel like I am constantly yelling at them. I fight with DH over everything (and we NEVER used to fight). I just feel like something is not "right" and I am so nervous that the baby is going to turn out colicky because I feel like I am constantly stressed and upset.

Re: Pregnancy Depression/Anxiety
is there any way that you can take a "Safe" anti anxiety/depression medication while pregnant? I take Zoloft now and also took it while I was pregnant with my DD. It is considered safe up to 150mg/daily, during pregnancy and Breastfeeding. Even on the Zoloft I have a tough time with anxiety when Im pregnant (actually I always have a problem with anxiety) so I couldn't imagine not taking anything right now.
Sorry you are having a tough time.

I agree with everything , at this point the baby is already formed there is no harm in taking antianxiety meds. my dr and numerous other dr's have told me this and its much better for the baby to be happy and calm while pregnant.

Re: Pregnancy Depression/Anxiety
Thank you for your responses. I am really scared right now to be honest. DH doesn't understand at ALL and he just keeps getting mad at me that I am always yelling. When pg with DS, I took NOTHING! Not a sip of caffeine, never any fish just to be safe, no meds, NOTHING. So I am really scared to take anything now.
