pregnancy diet
have any of you lovely ladies ran into a situation where your family/friend cooked a nice meal for you knowing that you were pregnant but included ingredients/herbs that aren't safe (and they didn't know of course)? how would you tell them?

I would feel bad to say anything, I would probably say I wasn't hungry & just take it home. I can't really think of anything that would be so horrible that I wouldn't eat it but that's just me. I'm not too good with following the rules of things not to eat, I had a hot dog today & a salad with blue cheese ( I just pray first  )

Sure! Wait until you are breastfeeding... the diet (limit nuts) is even harder to follow.
I try to pick around the non-allowed food & if not, I tell the person gently that I normally love it, but doc says I can't eat it.

My MIL bakes with equal, splenda etc.. I don't eat it. I usually ask, and if someone likes to take a jab at me.. I usually blame it on the pregnancy hormones. I just joke about it.. rather than get all uptight.. kwim?

I ate and drank everything while BFing...you dont really "have to" avoid anything...unless your baby has a specific reaction!
TO OP: I agree with above...what foods are we talking about!?

ah yes to be specific, i'm talking about herbs like ginseng and stuff. my relatives (who are asian) want to cook me lots of nutritious stuff with different herbs and i know they put a lot of time into doing it so i feel awful telling them i can't eat what they make!

I would just blame it on pregnancy naseaus or have DH just straight out tell them you can't eat that...
I got served a way bloody hamburger off the grill I had to send it back twice the worst was it was my uncle who was cooking he thought I was crazy/exaggerating so I felt bad but I wasn't going to take any chances.

Just say you are sick to your stomach. I've had to do that. I won't consume caffeine, artificial sweetner, cold cuts, seafood, etc.

If it was something I could not eat bc I was pregnant I would say "Oh I wish I could have that it looks great but my dr said no xyz".
