Re: pregnancy test time?
I would take a test. When I was pregnant with my DD I started testing at 9DPO. I got a BFN but then at 10DPO I got my BFP! 14DPO is not too early to test by any means and even if it's a BFN as long as you don't get AF you're still in it. Good luck!

I was in the same boat last month. I tested a few times and I found that too stressful and disappointing to do. I wasnt sure when AF was coming either. It was my 1st rd of clomid and I got AF on 15 DPO So I think the meds for me sched AF to arrive just at the 2 WW mark. I would check tomorrow. If you get to CD 35 with no AF and get a BFN I would call the doc back.
Good luck! I am about 10 or 11 DPO I am not positive which day I O'ed...but I def O'ed I haven't tested yet and I dont plan to until about Tues or Wed if no AF shows
Best of luck!!!! Keep us posted

The thing with that is Clomid can mess with the OPK results which is why you MUST be monitored throughout your cycle by a doctor. The only way to know for sure if you ovulated is through blood work and sonos. You should have been having sonos to make sure your follicles are maturing and that they aren't being overstimulated either.

Re: pregnancy test time?
the dr. hasn't checked much yet...she prescribed clomid to kinda "see if it works" the first 2 months, after that she gave me a referral for a hysterosalpingogram to see if i am blocked, and to check out the hubby's side of things as well - i am guessing she's taking baby steps to figure things out, but i will def. call and ask if i should be monitored or not at this point in the game

But you don't know if Clomid works unless you're being monitored. KWIM? The fact that she gave you the Rx for Clomid and sent you on your way is wrong. SO, SO wrong. I took 2 rounds of Clomid under the care of an RE. I started with 50mg. My follicles were not maturing enough, they were stuck around 15mm. The RE prescribed another round of Clomid (without even bringing on AF again because it wasn't necessary) and he increased my does to 100mg. This after weeks of sonos and blood work mind you. I now have 4 very mature follies, nothing was overstimulated by the Clomid and I just had my IUI today. There is NO way they could've known that 50mg. wasn't enough or that my follicles weren't maturing without monitoring me as closely as they did.
Honestly, there is NO such thing as baby steps here when you're TTC. Clomid is a fertility drug and you should be monitored by a fertility specialist. You don't just take it and "see what happens". For all you know you're wasting your time here. You should have had a complete blood work up done to check your hormone levels, an RE would've looked for blockages right away (I know because I had it done), your DH would've been given a semen analysis right away, and only then would they decide how to proceed. I'm not trying to be harsh but if you're serious about your health and getting pregnant I suggest you get yourself to someone with a clue and fast. If you're seeing a regular OB/GYN you're wasting time. They are clueless and fertility issues are NOT their specialty. You need to see an RE. ALL they do is handle fertility issues and get women pregnant. That is their job.
I seriously cannot believe she prescribed Clomid to you and sent you on your way and never even did a SA on your DH. That is the FIRST place they start because for all you know your DH can be shooting blanks and taking Clomid won't fix that. And just as an FYI..........you are limited to 12 cycles of Clomid in your LIFETIME. Over time it thins the lining of your uterus making it difficult to sustain a pregnancy. In addition, it creates hostile cervical mucous (CM) which is a problem when you are TTC. You need quality CM to transport the sperm up to meet the egg. Did your doctor mention that to you? You can help the situation by taking Robistussin or Mucinex daily and when you BD you can use Pre-Seed to help with the lubrication. Again, something to know before taking Clomid. Also, it also increases the likelihood of multiples.
Anyway, I just feel like you are not getting the best care here. I've been through fertility issues, I've been to an RE, I've been pregnant and had a baby, I am back TTC #2 and I can tell you from experience you REALLY should be seeing an RE. You really need to figure out what is going on FIRST before you take ANY medication......especially a fertility medication. I've always had irregular cycles and I wasn't ovulating on my own. When I conceived my DD I never had to take the Clomid luckily. I took something called Metformin which regulated me and helped me get pregnant. Again, another option but without seeing an RE who would have known? You don't have options with a regular doctor because all they ever do is Rx Clomid and call it a day. Clomid is great and has its benefits but it's also not a band-aid solution to every fertility issue and it does have lasting side effects.
Sorry to go on and on but I get so upset when I see someone TTC and wasting their time because of some doctor who is doing everything wrong because in the end YOU are the one who suffers and wastes time in this whole process. Seriously, get to an RE. You will thank me!!!!.....I can promise you that.

Re: pregnancy test time?
not going to lie...all your advice kinda hit me like a ton of bricks. i felt so betrayed by my OB/GYN. i spent a good deal of my Saturday crying and my husband (DH? i can't figure out all these abbreviations yet!) didn't know what to do. This can all be so overwhelming. thank you for the heads up. I am so grateful a friend turned me onto this forum and i found you all! i am calling my doctor tomorrow about the situation, and now that I am a bit more educated, i can take the next step in the right direction...maybe even to an RE. anything else i should know when i call or visit?
i knew about the hostile cervical mucus and the robisttusin and the risk of multiples from googling clomid, but the fact that i am limited to how many cyles i can take it for was news to me. the DH and I will definitley go for more testing before i take the clomid again.
thank you again!
BTW: BFN this morning but no sign of AF either - 15dpo.

Re: pregnancy test time?
the same thing happened to me - my ob/gyn gave me clomid 50mg and never told me when to even come back to the office.
the next day i made an appointment with an RE and I have never looked back and i will never go back to that ob/gyn again.
clomid is in no way a "cure all" drug that gets every women pregnant - and a lot of ob/gyns push it like candy.
that being said and everything Hofstra said - i would make an appointment with at least your ob/gyn to find out if clomid worked for you (they can do bloodwork and sonos to see if you O'ed - but to be perfectly honest most ob/gyns dont bother doing these things which is why many of the women on this board- myself included - end up seeing REs who spend a lot more time on this an a regular ob/gyn). an RE will obviously do more for you in the long run - but if you do O from clomid you might not need to really see an RE - the problem is that you dont know if clomid made you O or not.
also, (and this is PURELY my opinion) i would want to know the root cause of why i needed clomid to O in the first place - and an RE will do that for you where an ob/gyn most of the time wont do the kinds of testing necessary to diagnose that - which is why they push clomid- to fix the problem without ever having to diagnose it.
so to take it one step at a time - i would make an appointment with your doctor and determine whether or not you O'ed - since that's half the battle to begin with. from there if you did not - then i would go the RE route. if you did then it could be worth trying another cycle of it with timed BD and your ob/gyn.
good luck!!

I hope I didn't upset you. I feel bad. I was just taken aback by the way your doctor was handling your situation. I've seen so many people waste their time when precious time TTC can be saved by seeing the right doctor. I hope you are able to see an RE and get some solid answers as to why you haven't gotten pregnant and then hopefully they will offer you the best course of treatment. If you have any questions please feel free to FM me and I would be happy to help as best I can. Lots of luck with everything and I hope you will get your BFP soon!!

Re: pregnancy test time?
Hey and welcome Calling your doc sounds like the best bet here. I am not too familiar with Clomid, but seems like the other posters have had experience with it. Although everyone is different, it's nice to hear other experiences to see if yours is the same or similiar. Lots of luck, it will all work out and you'll see that BFP before you know it!
