Pregnant and Disney
Can I go to Disney in early April if I am due in early July, or is it kind of a waste?
I know the rides aren't really crazy, mostly just a big circle.
Plz share any experience you had, TIA!

it says on every ride at disney world that you shouldnt go on if you pregnant. Some of them are very bumpy.

So it probably would be a waste...That stinks!

Re: Pregnant and Disney
I am NOT one to be like "Oh I can't do that, I'm pregnant" for most things, but when every single ride warns against riding while pregnant, - I think I'd skip the amusement parks -

Re: Pregnant and Disney
I kind of figured that, I was just hoping there was some way i could go. We found a really great deal and love disney...I can wait a few more years, it will probably even better when my child is old enough to enjoy it. That would melt my heart!

Re: Pregnant and Disney
I went to Disney and Universal Studios/Island of Adventure when I was 5 months pregnant and had to skip alot of the wild rides like the Hulk and Dualing Dragon rides at IOA.
There were several rides that were doable though like the Mummy and Simpson rides though it made me queasy afterwards.
If you still have morning sickness I would recommend staying away from them...
It will be so much more fun going when you have a child with you! They will get so much out of it and it will be fun seeing their reactions.

Re: Pregnant and Disney
I just came back 2 weeks ago and I am 7 months PG. We had a blast!!! We spent 4 full days in the parks with DS who is 2 1/2. Def not a waste. I went on almost all the rides except the roller coasters (which there are not that many anyway) and the virtual type ones except I went on Soarin.
I went on Pirates of the Carribean, Aladdin, Dumbo, Small World, Nemo, even the Safari in AK.
All of them did not have a warning except the Roller Coasters.
DEF GO!!!!!! We had the time of our lives and can't wait to go back in 2 yrs

Re: Pregnant and Disney
There is really not much you can go on - nearly everything has a warning and to me the risk was not worth it! I was 13w when I went and spent a lot of time sitting on benches waiting for dh and my friends to get off rides.

Re: Pregnant and Disney
DH and I went to Disney when I was 5 1/2 months pregnant with my parents. We had a blast!!!! Yes, there are a few rides that you can't go on. BUT, there is still plenty of other rides to go on and other things to do. You should skip the roller coaster rides and test track for obvious reasons, and I skipped the Safari in Animal Kingdom as per DH's request...but other than that I went on almost everything else. I'm so glad we went and had a chance to spend some time together before DS came. I say GO FOR IT!!! Disney is NEVER a waste of money....even if you are 7 months pregnant!!!
Just make sure you drink lots of water and you take breaks from walking around. You'll be fine!

Re: Pregnant and Disney
I went to Disney when I was 12 weeks pregnant for a week. I was able to go on most of the rides, obviously the big ones I avoided and anything that was very bumpy. I think the main thing with Disney is the amount of walking and if it is hot. If you pace yourself, and keep hydrated it will be so much fun!

Re: Pregnant and Disney
Honestly it will depend on how you feel you should ask your OB if it is okay in the time frame you wish to go.
I know my OB was not in favor of my flying in my last trimester - but if you are not in the last trimester you should be okay (of course again it depends on how you are feeling). But I found out I was pregnant on our last trip - I was told if I got pregnant when I went to enjoy myself but not to go on anything that they don't recommend for pregnant women. There are more rides that you CAN do than you CAN"T do.
In MK you can do - basically everything but - space mountain, splash mountain, maybe tea cups, barnstormer, big thunder mountain railroad.
In Epcot - you can do everything but - test track and mission space
In AK - they don't recommend - safari (but some people will ride up front where it is less bumpy), dinosaur, Expedition everest and Kali river rapids. So there is more at AK that you would not be able to ride than other parks.
In HS - they don't recommend - Tower of Terror, arrowsmith coaster, star tours.
Basically if it is a roller coaster, centrifigal force or really bumpy it probably isn't the best idea. But that leaves A LOT to do - I had no probably finding rides to go on. And the ones you can't do will always be there for future trips.
If you go - make sure you plan in: extra rests - maybe plan to return to the hotel for a midday rest and swim. drink extra fluids maybe pick rides with shorter waits and take advantage of fast pass so you aren't standing in long lines which might make you swell more or your back bother you more.
Otherwise I say go and enjoy yourself.

Actually there are very FEW rides that they don't recommend most do not have restrictions - the roller coasters and some very bumpy rides - but there are more rides that are okay than not okay. The parks are full of pregnant women. The ones that are not okay are clearly marked and understandable - but disney unlike universal tend to have tamer rides.
I just got back 6 weeks ago so if you have questions I followed the guidelines of what not to ride pregnant and would happy to share them with you.

Re: Pregnant and Disney
I went at 3 mos and went on everything except roller coasters.
I even went on Test track at Epcot even though it had warnings.
I was fine and did not even get sick- I had to take it easy though and drink alot because it was Aug and hot!
DH and I had a blast on that babymoon. It was my first Disney trip.

Re: Pregnant and Disney
Everyone is different!! Me personally, I wouldn't go. I have had no desire to travel while being PG. I would hate not being able to go on certain rides. I used to be able to walk miles with out a problem, now I get tired easily and sometimes a lot of pressure in my belly for standing too long. I also don't like to be far away from my doctors, just in case. I love to travel and always thought DH and I would go on a baby moon.
With this said, alot of PG women go away with no problem at all. So do what you feel is right.

Re: Pregnant and Disney
i would definitely still GO! there is SO much to do at Disney besides the rides. I am afraid fo heights and get nauseous on all rides so I never go on anything more exciting than the carousel and I love Disney. there are all the shows, the parades, the exhibits and the rides were you just sit in the little car. Defintiely go!!!!

Re: Pregnant and Disney
Besides the fact that you can't go on quite a few rides, you have no idea how you'll be feeling. You could feel great or you could be uncomfortable.
I felt pretty good up until the beginning of the 3rd trimester, which is when I started having a lot of swelling. There's no way I could walk around a theme park for hours.
