Prenatal Massage today (question too!)

So I went to Serenity spa in Howard Beach today for my prenatal massage. I was supposed to get waxed after but rescheduled because I wanted to save the pain for another day.

When I was about to go in, the woman said "Wow, you are going to be here for a while today!" Turns out, the gift certificate DH got me was for a prenatal massage, aromatherapy facial AND spa pedicure!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

LOVE DH! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Anyway, I rescheduled the other stuff -- it was already 5:30 and all of that would have cut into my bedtime LOL

The massage was AMAZING. They did not have a special table so I just hugged this AMAZINGly firm body pillow. It was perfection.

So after it, when I got up, I felt WONDERFUL - so loose and comfortable. I wasn't waddling at all. The therapist said that I should try to come back once or twice because she said it will loosen up my hips and help with the labor. . . sooooo do you think this is true? Or just a way to get me back there?

I completely agree with this!

I'm going for my second prenatal massage tomorrow morning and I CAN'T WAITTTT!! I'm so sore and uncomfortable right now... I can't wait for that 'just massaged' feeling! Chat Icon

LOL touche! Good point!

I think I am going to schedule it for the Sunday after the 4th of July. I don't want to do it too late and then end up going into labor and missing it!

She also has a special "post natal" massage -- oh yes I will be getting that too! LOL

I woke up this morning with NO WADDLING! No soreness, no stiffness. I can get out of the chair like a normal person at work. . . I feel awesome! I wish I could afford to get this weekly!

I swear by prenatal massages. I had such back pain with my first pregnancy. I would get a prenatal massage and would feel better for atleast 1 week! Helped with the swelling too!

This is a few days old after your question but I will answer.

Yes, it's true! Your pelvis is widening to accomodate birth. Your uterus ligaments attach to structures in your body. Your posture (to accomodate your growing belly and breasts!) is changing also. When the posture changes everything gets affected/pulled. Your upper back because your breasts are getting larger. Your lower back, your hips, etc...do get affected greatly!

This is a normal part of being PG.

Then you will also need massage AFTER you have the baby. Because your body will now go back to pre baby and everything shifts again.

Massage can be your friend while PG and afterwards.

I am sure MOST people don't know about this but you CANNOT get a leg massage for 8-10 weeks PP if you have a c-section. Just upper body. There is greater chance for clots during that time. In general, wait for your 6 weeks PP Dr. appt to resume massage regardless of your delivery!

FM me if you have any questions.
