Prince William and Kate Angered by Topless Photos of the Duchess
As their goodwill tour of Asia continues, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are "saddened," angry and considering legal options as French magazine Closer published topless photos of Kate on Thursday.
"We certainly feel a red line's been crossed," a palace source tells PEOPLE of the photos, which were taken during William and Kate's private holiday in France. The source also said that the mood at the palace back home is "one of anger and disbelief."
News of the photos broke as William and Kate – dressed in headscarf – stepped out to visit Malasia's largest mosque, in central Kuala Lumpur.
A statement from a St. James's Palace spokesman says, "Their Royal Highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner."

"The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to The Duke and Duchess for being so," the statement continues. "Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them."
Adding that officials acting on their behalf are considering legal options, the statement says: "The Duke and Duchess remain focused currently on their Tour of Singapore, Malaysia, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu on behalf of HM The Queen."
The couple's next stop is a visit to the rainforests of Borneo.

Just so wrong :( She can't even be in a private house with her husband. I feel so bad for them.
I just want to clarify that this is not like the Prince Harry thing IMHO. Being drunk and stupid is different then being alone with your spouse trying to chill. I also want to clarify that I don't think Harry did anything wrong, but as an heir he should have been more aware of who he was with.

They were in a private house, so I don't see the big deal. Their privacy was wholey violated and I would be angry too. Besides, being topless is common there so again...what's the big deal. They should've just left them alone.

I think this was kinda stupid of them to be honest. I mean, they know who they are, they know scumbag paparazzi are lurking iin every bush and trashcan they pass. I am not a celeb and I'd be a bit nervous walking around topless outside ANYWHERE (private residence or not) that someone might be able to see me. I feel like being this famous and walking outside of your house semi-nude is a HUGE risk and you have to at least half expect your pic to pop up in the media. I don't feel sorry for her, she also gets MANY perks for her position. The pity for them makes me

I tend to agree.
I don't walk outside topless in my private residence- and I'm not a celeb.
If you know you are in the spotlight 24/7 you kind of have to expect that at ANY moment your pic can be snapped.
Especially now a days with how aggresive the papparazzi is and with the lengths they will go to.
You aren't safe anywhere.
Is it right? No.
But's it the truth

Word for word! Can't really pity them when they are fully aware their lives are constantly on showcase... that anyone, anywhere (even a "friend" with a phone) can snap a pic and have a payday.. and it may be a private residence, but they were outdoors which isn't exactly private... Obviously, they didn't take note of Harry's incident just the other day... She knew what she signed up for! Dumb move in my opinion.

I laid out topless in Miami once and creppy men were trying to take pics- that was enough
so if I was a married to Price William I wouldn't lay out topless
they can be angry- I don't blame them- but she doesn't strike me as the lay out topless type

ITA. She does minimal work, when compared to other European royals, compared to the 90 year old Duke, but gets lots of benefits. If having to keep your bikini top on while on a luxury vacation is one of the tradeoffs, well, I'd deal.

I agree with everything that has been said above. But, this pap is probably in a tree with a very long telephoto lens. Even if they did scan the area to make sure they weren't being photographed, how could you ever spot that guy?
The invasive-ness is just so terribly creepy.
