Private health insurance?

Private health insurance?
Does anyone have health insurance through a private company vs through their employer? Our family plan is $1000 per month and though that is not unusual, its really a huge hit. We were wondering if there are any other options since this is roughly 25% our pay which is ridiculous IMO. I miss the single days when our plan was only $250 so the big jump has put us in a bad spot.

Unfortunately, employer paid health coverage is less expensive than private coverage. If you have children, I'd recommend looking into Healthy NY for them and then keeping employer paid coverage for you and your spouse. That might be cheaper.

we have private HMO just for us 2 and it's over $1200 a month. So what you are paying is a good deal.
