Protein Bars while pregnant? Safe?
I'm not a huge protein eater. I hate most meats (I only really eat Chicken). So basically I fear i may not be getting in enough. Every morning for breakfast I eat a Luna Bar (which has about 9g of protein in it) and a yogurt. Lunch and Dinner i TRY to get some chicken in, but I don't always accomplish this. My only other protein intake is probably through the milk i drink and yogurt and other small factors.
So yesterday, DH came home with Protein Bars. They're called "Pure Protein" and have like 20g of Proten in them. He suggested I have one for lunch with my veggies and fruit.
Are protein bars ok??? I haven't really found much on this when I googled. One website said it's a no-no because you should not get TOO MUCH protein, but I'm barely getting any at this point so if that's the only reason than I would think that I SHOULD have it. I just don't want to do anything 'dangerous' so I'm coming to you guys. Have your doctors ever said anything about protein bars?? Or do you know from experience what is ok and what's not?

Re: Protein Bars while pregnant? Safe?
I would ask your OB about it. Every OB is different with what they recommend and reject as far as foods during PG go. I worry a little about the super protein bars because they're usually for people trying to build muscle and their not really balanced nutrition.
I asked my OB about fiber bars because my dad introduced me to them and they're actually really delicious and I definitely don't get enough fiber normally and he said they were fine. Just call the nurse and ask about the protein bars. Better than getting advice from us on it.
