Protein Powder
Are they all created equally? Wanted to get some to add into smoothies. Does trader joe have it? Also, does if have a taste? I hear it helps fill you up, and that's what i need!

Re: Protein Powder
I don't know the name of the brand we use off hand, I can look later. But I add a scoop in our smoothies. I have it for breakfast post-workout. Keeps me full until lunch. I use banana-flavored.

Re: Protein Powder
Definitely not all created equally. The nutrition facts on all of them can be very different. Some are flavored, some are not, some have artificial sweetners while some do not. There are different types too---whey, casein, egg white, soy etc. What are you looking to do with it? ANy special requirements?

Exactly what Lauren said. I use different protein powders depending on when I am having them during my day and for what reason. Isolate for pre workout, meal replacement formulation if I'm not grabbing an actual meal, vegan formula when I do a 3-5 day all fruit/veggie/nut 'detox' which means no animal products....

In that case I'd say try a casein protein powder....its slower digesting.
ETA-You can also put in cottage cheese if you didn't want to buy a protein powder. It will also give the smoothie a milkshake like consistency.

Casein is a great protein powder to have at night before bed. When competing i would have a protein shake each night with a scoop of vanilla protein, almond milk and usually some sort of flavor extract. In most of my shakes I would put 1/4-1/2 cup cottage cheese in to make it creamier and thicker! Can't wait to have that again after pregnancy!
