FRANKLIN, SOMERSET —A 60-inch water main broke Tuesday morning on Weston Canal Road, affecting several towns in Somerset and Middlesex Counties. Weston Canal Road is closed between Schoolhouse Lane and Apgar Road.

Franklin, Hillsborough, Bridgewater, Piscataway, South Plainfield and Middlesex and possibly Edison and Dunellen are affected by the break.

Police in Piscataway said there is low water pressure throughout the town. Officials sent out a telephone notification to residents at about 12:10 p.m., and the township's Office of Emergency Management has been notified, Capt. Richard Ivone said.

Piscataway's School Administration building has reported water issues, and pressure has been lost in the southern end of South Plainfield.
