PSA! Don't put a child in the back of a cart!!!!

I did this yesterday and I will forever be changed by it.

Andrew was getting tired and my double would not fit in the store so I put Alexa in the front and Andrew in the back.

I was trying to get out of the store and it started tipping over because they were both leaning to the right. Alexa wasn't strapped in because it was broken.

In between the cart was a metal bike rack type thing. The cart started sliding sideways down on that and Alexa's head was hitting it.

Somehow I had super human strength and managed to pull it back up with one hand because my other hand was on the door trying to keep it open because we were in between it. The automatic doors broke!!!!!!!!!

What a nightmare. Thank god I was able to pull them back up but I am never ever doing that again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alexa went white and had this blank stare on here face for a few minutes and Andrew kept telling me how scary that was.

I know most probably don't do this and I never do but this one time I did, it could have been a disaster because that metal bike rack and the cart falling on her would have seriously hurt Alexa. Andrew was far enough in the cart but it was just so scary.

OMG How scary, I am glad things turned out OK. I have to say I have done this a hundred times It is amazing the strength you find when your kids are in danger

Something similar happened to a friend of mine, but her LO actually fell out after the cart tipped over. He hit his head and had to go to the hospital but luckily was okay.

Thanks I am going to get a sit n stand now. Andrew is going to be 4 in May but he still gets tired and wants to sit down. And my side by side doesn't fit in a lot of smaller stores. I already warned DH that I am getting yet another stroller

How scary! I needed to hear this though because against my better judgement, I have done this on a couple of occasions when DS was being a bear in a store but it always made me extremely nervous. I won't do that again!

it started out as a bad habit when I had josh and babysitting kid. I would stick josh in back and babysitting kid in front.

I used to do this all the time. Only reason I stopped is because one day our back was turned, and DS stood up and fell out of the cart Thank God DH was there, he tried to catch DS and kind of broke the fall so that DS didn't land on his head. I'll NEVER do it again.

Thank you for warning us! I will have two kiddies soon and I could definitely see myself doing this in the future- not so anymore. Thank goodness your kids weren't hurt.

I'm glad they are ok!! So scary.

I vowed never to do this after I saw a boy fall out and whack his head hard on the floor of babies r us. His mom & grandma kept telling him to sit, but he wouldn't listen, and they were busy unloading the cart, not watching him, and bam, he fell. I think my heart skipped a few beats.

Glad they were both ok...I have done this many times myself !

I actually remember standing on the back of the cart when I was younger and it tipped over with my younger brother in it ...My mother caught ihim just before he fell out !

even worse i had my 3 year old in the back and he stood up just as i stopped the cart. He went flying backwards and as his butt hit the back of the cart i watched him fall out of the cart straight onto his back :(
THANK GOD he landed on a soft blanket that just HAPPENED to be on the floor.. someone was watching out for us that day.. otherwise i could imagine he would have had some head trauma :( scariest thing that i have ever watched happen

Wow, this brought tears to my eyes. Great job pulling the cart back up! It's a testament to what a mother will and can do for her child/children when faced with something like this.
