Psoriasis - Anyone have it?
I have always had Psoriasis. It would only appear during the winter and then go away by the spring/summer. Weird I know.
Well, I also have 3 kids and every time I had a baby my psoriasis would flare up like crazy once they were born and not go away for months and months. Well, I had my 3rd baby 11/26/10 and my legs are covered with the psoriasis from the knee down only. It's huge. It's also all over my scalp. I don't know what to do? I've been to the Dermatologist about this when I had my 2nd son, but the oil/cream she gave me was not safe when BF so I couldn't use it. Even after when I did use it, it never worked.
Can anyone recommend a cream or something I can apply to my legs everyday to make this go away? It's so embarrasing to say the least and now that summer is coming, I won't want to go in the pool with my kids. And since I'm in NC, the pool in my neighborhood has already opened. Please help!!!

I feel your pain. I had it for a few years while in college. I lived in leggings during the summer. I have used every cream out there, even had UV light therapy. Now I am pretty clear except for my elbows and scalp. I have been using a spray that has done wonders! My dermotologist prescribed it for me. Here is a link, good luck!http://www.clobex.com/
edited to say, it is a strong spray, so I use it very sparingly!

A good OTC moisturizer is CeraVe creme (in the tub!). My son's dermatologist recommended it for his eczema and it worked very well.

Re: Psoriasis - Anyone have it?
I've had it since i was 4 and used to go for UV treatments; since then its very mild. i tend to flare up before my period. I was the opposite though..during pregnancy it wasnt even an issue.
the worst is my scalp which i get prescription mousse or drops for;
can you do UV light treatments while BFin'g??
Gold bond has a new psoriasis cream on the market; none of the over the counter stuff ever seemed to work for me.

Re: Psoriasis - Anyone have it?
Thanks for the responses!
I don't know about the UV treatments? Would they be covered with insurance? I know the sun definitely helps clear it, but who has the time to sun bathe with 3 kids, lol!
It's just very embarrasing to have.
During PG I NEVER have it, it's just after having the baby is when it's really bad. It's somewhat bad over the winter but not this bad. And then by summer, it completely goes away. But since I just had the baby, it's really bad.
I'll have to look into the creams you guys mentioned or if worse comes to worse go to a Dermatologist.
The boys want to start going to the pool and I just can't looking like this. People will think I have some nasty disease.
This SU@KS!!!
