Pumping to increase supply - how long to notice an increase?
I work full time and pump at work to continue to EBF my DD. Over the past few weeks I have noticed that I am pumping less - about 4-5oz less per day. So I have been pumping an addt'l time at work and added another pumping session before I go to bed at night to try to increase my supply. How long should it take for me to notice a difference in my supply?

Try pumping for longer during your regular sessions, even if nothing is coming out anymore, just keep pumpicg for an adtnl 5 mins. AMD very important-make sure you significantly increasy yoru water intake. You will see the results in a day or two!

Think it's better to pump for longer periods rather than addt'l times?

Re: Pumping to increase supply - how long to notice an increase?
I went back to work full time while EBF. I also noticed a decrease in my supply. After about a month it got really low and I started to worry. I consulted with the lactation consultant at my pediatrician's office and she suggested increasing the amount of times I pumped and the duration of each session. It didn't really work so then my OB gave me a prescription for a medication that would increase my supply and that didn't work either. I also took Fenugreek supplements and drank tea that was supposed to help. I was able to keep up the pumping for two months at work then my supply just dried up completely. I was really disappointed but feel like I tried everything.

It took about 5 days of pumping after I nursed and mother's milk tea to notice a difference.

I dried up a while ago, but I remember my Doc telling me when I take hot showers to massage the boobs... well, I don't think he said boobs, but breasts seems to formal to me. LOL Anyway, the hot water is supposed to be good too. You can use a hot towel and cover them too b4 pumping. It's supposed to help

Both are good routes to take! What is your pumping schedule now?

I was pumping 3x a day (to mimic DD's feedings while I am away) and now I am pumping 4x a day and also pumping at night before bed. I started this on thursday, then nursed all weekend, but also pumped once during the day and then again before bed. So I am hoping by midweek to notice a difference. I am still getting the amount I need to feed DD, I guess I was just used to having some excess. I have been back to work for almost 3 months now and DD started on cereal/fruits/veggies almost 2 months ago so I am attributing that to the decrease in my supply.

Is DD STTN? If so, coulkd you try pumping an hour before she gets up? I've been pumping before DS eats for a little while now b/c that's when my supply is best. I can get 1.5-2 times more in that session than any other pumping session. It's usually the only way I can avoid dipping into my freezer stash. Recently, I've also been pumping for longer during the day. I used to pump for 15 minutes and now I tend to pump for 20 or even 25 minutes.

It sounds like you already have 3 pumping sessions during your work day. Would you actually be able to squeeze in (no pun intended;)) another one? I say try to increase the length of sessions and drink drink drink WHILE you pump! You WILL see the difference within a few days!
