Im not trying to call you out on it but why would you say those things when they aren't true. Think for a second, if you are opening a store like this one why would the mall accept it if it is illegal to get animals from puppy mills, they obviously did their research before allowing the store to open there. Its not just sign up and get a shop in a mall, its a lot more complicated and a more drawn out process then that.
Ok. Reputable breeders want their puppies to go to mall patrons who buy dogs on a whim. OK.
Do you sell unicorns too in your new store?
ohhh! now i'd shop in a unicorn selling store!! :) ha! maybe they should have opened that instead!!!
I want me a unicorn too!

Re: PUPPY STORE DUE TO OPEN AT THE SMITHAVEN MALL
FYI, I am on the breed section list for a particular cat breed. I go to shows, I am on several of the breed standard lists. I am friends with the breeders & we go out etc... So, I ABSOLUTELY with confidence and conceit if you wish to call it that, I KNOW what I am talking about: NO REPUTABLE BREEDER WILL EVER EVER EVER SELL TO A PET STORE. PERIOD.

PUPPY STORE DUE TO OPEN AT THE SMITHAVEN MALL
This is part of a report byt eh Humane Society done in 11/2011 and here is info about this lovely store that claims they do not buy from mills.....
Two of the pet stores investigators visited in person and seven of the stores studied through transport records were found purchasing from a facility owned by Brandi Cheney, identified last year by The HSUS as one of the worst puppy mills in Missouri. Cheney has been linked to two different puppy mills, which collectively have amassed more than 500 pages of Animal Welfare Act violations and enforcement records. This year, Cheney’s Although pet stores in NY claimed to get puppies only from “private breeders,” our investigation found that many of their puppies come from large commercial puppy mills like this one. HSUS/2011 2 newest facility, Circle B Farms in Huntsville, MO, has accumulated state and federal animal welfare violations that include: a heat index of 116 degrees inside one of the kennel buildings, with dogs “panting at a rapid/steady rate,” a poodle with a swollen foot who could not bear weight on it, a ****-a-poo with hair so badly matted that it was pulling on her skin, and dogs obtained by the kennel without any proof of rabies vaccination. Pet stores that purchased puppies from Brandi Cheney include: American Dog Club, Critter Comforts, Happy Tails, Pet Palace, Raising Rover & Baby, Tea Cup Pup, and Yipity Yap.

Re: PUPPY STORE DUE TO OPEN AT THE SMITHAVEN MALL
why do we need a puppy store when we can save these guys
so funny that that poster never returned to this thread! and if in fact they found this page by googling, I am so happy that everyone who potentially googles that store will stumble upon all of our posts!
what an idiot for posting here and an even bigger idiot for trying to defend a puppy mill store (definitely has to be the owner who is posting!) another bad business move by posting here!

PUPPY STORE DUE TO OPEN AT THE SMITHAVEN MALL
returned... sorry i just dont have that much free time to be arguing with you guys, as tempting as it may be, not worth it.... anyway im not the owner of the store thank you....???
And for the record i would much rather adopt a dog/unicorn ;) then buy one, but i was looking for a specific type thanks but no thanks..... assume what you all want, and i will assume what i would like..... and no matter how much you hate puppy mill and how horrible they are instead of complaining about them wouldn't you like to take one of them home and save them??....... thanks

I'd rather see them not exist at all. And in fact, I did take them home- two of them. But not by paying some asshat who owns a pet store and buys from puppy mills. I happily adopted both of my beautiful dogs.

I checked. If you google "puppies smithhaven mall" or "puppy store smithhaven mall" this is the first result that pops up.
ETA: Unfortunately THIS also pops up- an ad looking for workers for the store. I just had to share because the description doesn't call for animal lovers or people with experience with dogs, it calls for "persuasive, strong willed and not easily discouraged" people.
Link.

yep, you returned! LOL! i knew you would! and what is ironic is that you returned to post specifically on this thread! so not only are you most likely the store owner but also a Bull-sh-itter as well! ha! i guess you need to be a bull-sh-itter to be able to run a puppy mill store!
if you wanted a specific dog, there are breed specific rescues--no need to buy a specific breed from a puppy mill pet store! OR you could go to a legit breeder--do your research! good job trying to convince us with that comment ("I'm looking for a specific breed"!) we on the pet board are very knowledgable about our pets and will not tolerate someone coming on here as you did-so either you accept the fact that we will not shop in your store or you can sit here and argue with us (because by making your lastest post here -that's what you did-because you could have chosen to ignore it!!) we will stand up for what is right for animals and that's it! we are their voice!
if you were truly looking for a specific dog, you should have posted that--not trying to defend that puppy mill store!
i know you will at least be back-if not to argue w/us to at least read our responses!

So you're admitting that they get their puppies from mills then right? Because you stated above that we should try to save one from this type of environment instead of complaining about it? You're argument is shot and you are an idiot. Yes, we should continue to give money and business to these places for a specific breed because THAT would help us shut them down. Taking one puppy home won't help in saving the others who are drugged and mistreated in these types of stores.
If you want a specific breed, then go to an actual LEGIT breeder if necessary, not a freakin puppy store that gets their dogs from mills!
Also, when you get some more spare time, instead of coming on here and NOT making a point, please take a grammar class instead. A whole bunch of this.......and the other nonsense you wrote hardly makes sense. Thanks......

HOLY MOLY. Not good. So clearly selling puppies requires being a SALESMAN. Right. B/c reputable breeders would sell to a store who has salesmen pushing puppies like a new coat or computer. Just lovely.

Re: PUPPY STORE DUE TO OPEN AT THE SMITHAVEN MALL
Stores that sell animals are notorious for making claims that they don't get animals from puppy mills, even though they all do.
I think that the American Dog Club name for the new store is a bit misleading. This store is not part of an official club.

Re: PUPPY STORE DUE TO OPEN AT THE SMITHAVEN MALL
I wanted to give everyone an update. The store is open. I was at the mall yesterday and couldn't believe it. I went into the store and was horrified. There was NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!! The store was sweltering! Puppies are in plastic front pens with crate type backs. The lighting used in the store are those track lights that give off EXTREME heat. All of the puppies were panting. I could barely stand to be in the store. There was a huskey puppy in the middle of the store in a pen (plastic walls but the top open so ppl can reach in and pet the pup) and she was SO hot. I put my hand up against the plastic pens and the plastic was warm. I was horrified.
I went to the man behind the cashier (he was ordering around another guy so I figured he may be the owner) and I asked "Do you guys have AC??? These dogs are all panting and it's sweltering in here?!"
He replied "Yes, we do but the mall controls it. We're working on it"
I advised that it sounded like a load of bologna seeing as some stores are colder than others and the lighting in the store is causing most of the heat. I told him ALL of the puppies are panting and these are unbelievable conditions.
He brushed me off and I left. I'd never felt a pit in my stomach like I did walking out of that store knowing the conditions.
I know this thread is old but it's here. The store is open (the shelves aren't even stocked so it looks like he rushed to be open) Something needs to be done.
Those that were so passionate about this months ago, now's your chance to do something about it.
Please.

OMG. Horrible!!! We need to do something.
I sent a FM email to Dori, who organized the first protest to ask her to organize a new one.
Then I went to Save-A-Pets page to link them there (and here) and saw that Dori works there! I don't know if you know this but they protested outside the pet store that opened in Stony Brook constantly, and that store is now closed.
We need to show these places that they are not welcome.
