Pureed Green Beans - BTDT moms please come in.

I have been making pureed veggies for my DS. We started with green beans about 3 days ago. When I took 2 cubes out of the freezer and defrosted them, the consistancy was off. I try everything before I give it to DS and when I tasted the green beans, I have to chew a little bit because of the peel. So I have been giving DS Gerber Organic Green Beans because I do not trust the homemade ones. I am wonderfing if I did something wrong. I steamed them first, then blended. Chat Icon

How do you make pureed green beans?

That is how I make them. Did you add water when you pureed them?
They are going to be chunkier than what you get in a jar. Same thing with peas. The more liquid you add, the smoother they will be.

green beans and peas both get chunky....frozen ones tend to come out less chunky than fresh I would put mine through a strainer in the very beginning, and then once DD got into chunkier foods I just gave it to her freshly made like that..HTH!!!Chat Icon

Same here... I use frozen peas and green beans because they seem to get smoother, but I do add a good amount of water. When they defrost, the consistency is watery, but does have some skins. I have put them through a strainer in the beginning, but now DD doesn't mind it a little chunky (She's 7 months old).

Ditto with what was said. I found that I had to add water to make it more smooth. It will never be a s smooth as the jar. DS had no problem eating it and it's nice to get him use to some textured foods.

Oh, I feel so relieved to hear all of the same outcomes. I am going to stick with the jarred for now, but will eventually use what I have frozen and maybe I will put it though a strainer. Thanks ladies!! Chat Icon
